An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit China's Sichuan province. The tremor was felt across the entire region - shaking buildings in the capital, Beijing, as well as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. US Geological Survey said the quake struck 57 miles north-west of the city of Chengdu at 2.29pm local time (6.28am GMT).
Some 10 million people live in Chengdu.
I don’t know what make you think in such a ‘CNN’ way:). When we say something pro the gov, you think we are the agents or nationalism. When we don’t say anything you think one has been put into jails. In fact I work for an American Company in Beijing. I welcome you come to China, and see the today of China. If you come to Beijing, you can call me, I can be your guide. Find me by my email: eagle.xiao@gmail.com. I check it everyday.
No that is ok. I read 2 people were arrested for posting rumors in forums. You might get into trouble. I don’t want that.
I just feel terrible about what your people are going through. Continued prayers and be safe.
I welcome you to visit my blogspot site.

It may support you to understand me.
Sincerely, I hope I am wrong. I know it’s the middle of the night where you are. I apologize if my suspicions are just that, suspicions. You must understand that we’ve been fed this line that China prohibits its citizens from free speech. Perhaps with this catastrophe the firewalls have fallen and are now back in place therefore prohibiting again...free speech. Perhaps tomorrow I will be proven wrong. I hope so.
Happy you can still get to us here.
Keep bring updates.
Thank you for your kind offer. My boss used to go to China once a year so I have many stories from him and the vendors from China who also came to visit us in Missouri. I know Beijing is forward thinking and much more modern than much of China. As for instance, New York or Los Angeles would be far more forward thinking than us in the Midwest. Thank God, here we are not like the big cities. But very nice of you to make such a kind offer. I’m more worried about some particular friends that were here and now are not. I worry about them. They said things that didn’t tow the party line.
The government did block some websites, like the blogspot of google. I can not view my blogspot, but just access it in the background to do edit jobs, like posting or revising. Can you see my blogspot? I hope so.
But this website , namely FP, I am sure that it is not blocked by the government, never in the history. In China there is a “great firewall” which we called “GFW” to filter the government predefined websites. For example, Several months ago we can not access the wikipedia, but now it is nolonger blocked. I am happy with that for wikipedia is quite helpful to me:)
I will have to check it out, and thank you. Is it written in Chinese? Nevermind, I’ll find out soon enough. :)
Totally english:)
I am moving for lunch, now it is 11:10AM in China:)
Wow! First of all, you’re a guy! Second, written in English? How many people write a blog in a foreign language?
Thanks for the link. will check out further.
Can you access Craigslist?
China is 13 hours ahead of us... It is about 11:16am there.
While it is about 10:16pm here in the Midwest (USA Central Time)
Interesting blog!
I’ve been trying to learn Mandarin and can barely speak, yet you can write a blog. That’s great!
10:16 and past time for bed. :) I knew they were more or less opposite.
Am I crazy? I’m still worried about some of them. Silly I’m sure. Perhaps too much of our own propaganda?
Good night.
Yes, you have the right. I just don’t think this is a good time and good place. But quickly after i posted, I realize that i have been too emotional. And my post is not appropriate. Sorry for that, though you still make me upset, you have that right to say anything here. Sorry.
I know that, but they realy deserve that. Again I don’t work for the gov, but an America Company. Their behavior (publishing rumors) just increases the panic of the people.
