Sen. John McCain really does want to tempt the Republican base. ...
We've gotten our hands on an advanced transcript of this weekend's "The Chris Matthews Show" on NBC and the British Broadcasting Corporation's Katty Kay offered this nugget during the show's "Tell Me Something I Don't Know" segment:
"John McCain is going to be doing more of these themed tours of America, and one of them is going to be on energy and global climate change. It could get him into trouble with Republicans, of course, and with the base, who don't think there is much climate change going on, but it is something that he's very passionate about and he's going to be talking about it."

Rush said yesterday he’s toying with the idea of asking Republicans to cross over and vote for McCain.

"I just DARE you not to vote for me." - John McCain to the Republican Base.
When a Democrat runs against a Democrat, a Democrat wins EVERY time.

My impression is that he wants to win very much, but that he’s hampered by a strong sense of self-righteousness that makes him dismissive of criticism and disagreement, coupled with a significant judgment problem. The only candidate who would have been worse, IMO, is Giuliani.

What the hells wrong with this guy ?Worth repeating. Like someone said, since 1988 it's been voting for the lesser of two evils. That sure does get old, old, old. The lessers are getting less and the evils are getting eviler (if there is such a word).

Me too. The Constitution and Libertarian Parties are each better than the current Republican Party but I don’t agree with them 100% either. Lou Dobbs or Glenn Beck for President?
To: PROCON
Nice one, Al.
How much did you cut John in for?

Poor McCain! He just can't help but blatantly express his Marxist beliefs when suppression would be much more prudent. I love it when he gives me ammunition to fire back at the McCainics. I don't know if McCain is an idiot or he just can't resist an opportunity to stick it in the eye of conservatives. Either way, I relish an opportunity to attack the McCainiacs and their fellow rinos with another leftist McInsane revelation.

While I admit this is appalling ... maybe this is a clever move.
If he uses concern for “global warming” as an excuse to ramp up construction of nuclear power facilities maybe this isn’t a bad thing.
He’s already said that he won’t sign on to any global warming treaty unless China and India are on board - which ain’t ever going to happen.
Maybe there is a CHANCE that this is for show, to make a symbolic, meaningless gesture to dim-witted eco swing voters who CARE about the VIRONMENT without having any real negative effects; indeed if we get more nuke power plants built it could be a net positive!
