Yes, By All Means Let's Discuss "hate speech"! (McCain announces he'll speak before La Raza)
National Review's "The Corner" ^ | February 02, 2008 | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 05/05/2008 3:59:52 PM PDT by Mount Athos

When Ms. Murguia of the National Council of "The Race" announces that "when free speech transforms into hate speech, we've got to draw that line " we don't know whether to laugh or cry, since her own organization's very nomenclature "The National Council of La Raza" is hate speech to the core.

No other ethnic organization these days would dare to refer to themselves as "The Race." Despite all the contortions of the group, Raza (as its Latin cognate suggests), reflects the meaning of "race" in Spanish, not "the people" — and that's precisely why we don't hear of something like "The National Council of the People" which would not confer the buzz notion of ethnic, racial, and tribal chauvinism.

What we are seeing is that a moderate corrective back to sanity on illegal immigration threatens these extremists and racialist groups to the point of causing hysteria. Apparently, they assumed that no one was ever going to question their racist language deeply embedded in 1960s 'resistance' culture.

In this regard, Ms. Murguia could do her part in curbing hate speech by starting with the many campus MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan).affiliates, who have never repudiated all the nonsense of the "liberation of Aztlan," and on whose websites one can still find the old racist hatred: "Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada," and new ones like "Anchor babies are destined to transform America — although during the California recall election and the implosion of the Cruz Bustamante candidacy, there was the welcome development of seeing that the old motto "A bronze state for a bronze people" suddenly began disappearing off MEChA university websites, no doubt due to the civil-rights humanitarianism of La Raza.

By November I don't know why either Sen. Clinton or Sen. Obama should not have been asked to repudiate the support of an organization self-described as "The National Council of The Race," or why public funds on campuses go to an organization like MEChA whose very title "Aztlan" refers to the notion of reclaiming parts of the southwestern United States under some Hispanic utopia, and whose affiliates at UC Berkeley and Pasadena City College were implicated in destroying campus newspapers deemed critical. I suggest Ms. Murguia also peruse The Voice of Aztlan, distributed on university campuses, in which disgusting anti-Semitic rants have been commonplace.

Ms. Murguia is absolutely right. We need to draw the line on real hate speech as it pertains to race and questions of ethnic identity — and she could make a useful beginning by modifying the name of her very own organization.

What to do in this case ? These are the chieftains of that people

That comes off as a bit racist. What, hispanics can't think for themselves politically? My Ecuadorian ex-girlfriend thinks these guys are idiots, as does her whole family.

” It is time for those of rational mind and moral heart take back the immigration debate here on FR from the xenophobes and racists.”

Right. Keep exploiting illegal aliens for your cheap labor. If you cared anything about them, much less your country, you would stand up for their rights in THEIR country. Any human deserves that, and a good wage, not the slave wages offered by you ‘moral hearted’ people.

“Unfortunately over the years many of the rational, thinking voices of FR have been silenced only to be replaced “

You’re really something else, Bob J. Are you referring to the purge of hundreds of us who opposed the Bush/McCain Amnesty a few years ago? We could re visit that ugly time if you really want to.

Done with you, you’re a waste of time, like the GOP open borders bunch you support. Go cry to Norquist, he’ll fix you right up.

You're reaching for it Bob,
La Raza translates to The Race...
They know it, you know it, I know it.

If you want to believe in someone only being a little bit racist,
go right ahead but 'little bigots' rarely elect to make it part of their name.

If you want to reach out to "Americans-of-Mexican-extraction" you can find them everywhere. If you want to reach out to Mexicans who are using intimidation and hatred to undermine the social contract - look for "La Raza".

These are Mexican-American politicians, not “hispanic”, which is a common mistake. They push rhetorical buttons that work with Mexican-Americans, and not necessarily with others. But they manage to get elected among a largely Mexican-American electorate.

Your Ecuadorean friend and her family had little affinity for them to start with, and their political patter no doubt left them cold.

There are reasons other than demographic warfare to have babies, and lots of people would be better off if they had more of them. Native-born Americans far too often have skewed values this way, speaking as a foreign observer.

Free Dominoes (now banned) posted and linked to site which extolled the virtues of an all white America. There is no sense in posting the whole thing but what I would like to now from you is if you agree with this statement contained in the post.

“Mr. Horowitz is simply wrong when he writes of “going back to the good old American ideal” of multi-racialism. I am certain that if all the prominent Americans I have quoted could rise from their graves, they would endorse the American Renaissance view of race and nation, and would be shocked at the idea of a multi-hued America in which we are to pretend race can be made not to matter. It is American Renaissance that is faithful to the original vision of America. Walt Whitman perhaps put it most succinctly when he wrote, “[I]s not America for the Whites? And is it not better so?” Yes, it is. “

Case closed.

Was this the guy you were defending? Was this the guy you were so heated about being labeled part of the Christian Identity Movement?

How close of friend of yours is he?

I was on this thread last night and that post was pulled long before TM showed up on this thread. Plus, the schmuck who posted it was booted, so your conspiracy theorys about FR booting the "sane rational posters" (I'd love a few examples of these) only to be replaced with bigoted dopes is unfounded.

Heheh. I never stated FR was booting reasoned posters off, the mods have worked for over 10 years to try to keep this place bigot free.

I said “the mob” runs them off. There are a lot of narrow minded people on this site who just can’t stand the thought of someone disagreeing with them so they ping their cohorts to castigate and harass them until they have no option but to leave.

However, I’m un-runoffable. I’ve battled long and hard with the worst on FR long before you and other “newbies” even knew of this place. In fact, dueling with most of my current debate opponents is nothing more than childs play compared to the battles I’ve seen and been involved in.

And this is different than any other discussion forum about any other topic on the entire Internet how, exactly?

“And this is different than any other discussion forum about any other topic on the entire Internet how, exactly?”

I’m not sure what you’re suggesting. Because other internet discussion forums are populated by thugs and boors we’re just supposed to suck it up and take on FR?

Jim has always allowed the site to be pretty free wheeling, although he takes a pretty hard stance on things like bigotry or violence. FR is suposed to be a discussion site but unfortunately too often it turns into an advocacy site where groups of people who “think alike” try to run off opposition voices and squelch any visable signs of deviation from their groupthink.

They’re “mobs” IMO, plain and simple. There are dozens of them on many different topics but overall I think they are bad for FR because instead of open discussion and respect for differing opinions they foster a tribal mentality whose goal is to silence opposing opinions.

Many times they are no better than the fascist left who try to stamp out opposing viewpoints in the media, academia and hollywood.

No, I don’t agree. America has never been a ‘white nation’. My Cherokee relatives were certainly not ‘white’. They got ran from their homes just like the invasion you defend. My family after 400 years plus the native connection is getting just a bit tired of being sidelined and ignored because we’ve worked to get something someone else thinks they should be entitled to. ENOUGH!

What’s your postition? Do the Mexicans have a claim to the Southwest? They’re the ones bitching and moaning and yelling, Give me, give me.

Well, that’s real special. Why don’t you show us just one time you were involved in fighting amnesty or the destruction of your country (instead of defending it) from illegal aliens and those who would sell the rest of us out because they are CHEAP and want the rest of us to pay for it ?

And that ‘newbie’ thing....is one of the oldest, tiredest insults going. Good job, BobJ.

Dang if you don’t sound like a liberal! No one is trying to run anyone off, except YOU. Now, we realize you have a ‘differing’ opinion. As you well know, you are free to express it. And we are free to tell you that you are WRONG. and I think you know it.

Again, I’ll ask, what’s your vested interest in this invsion, BobJ?

“I was on this thread last night and that post was pulled long before TM showed up on this thread.”

It wasn’t just the post it was the link and things the guy was saying. TM showed up out of no where but I have to assume this Free Dominoes guy FReepmailed him, and that is why TM came over.

The fact that FR mods banned the guy after looking at his comments and links vindicates everything I said last night. That TM was defending the guy is disturbing...

Good to hear, but I think I knew that all along.

If anyone doesn’t think this site is under constant bombardment from white separatists, they should think again. They come in under the radar, start posting innocusous bits but their rhetoric increases as they troll for potential allies. When they think they got a hook in someone, they FReepmail them and ask them to visit “alternative” sites.

So my suggestion to all is be very careful who you team up with because the mud that gets splattered when they explode may end up on your spats.
