PRAYER REQUEST FOR MRS. DON-O
Little House on Unaka | May 5, 2008 | don-o

Posted on 05/05/2008 2:38:07 PM PDT by don-o

My wife Mrs. Don-o is having gastric bypass surgery on Thursday, May 8. If all goes well, she should be discharged on Saturday.

She is very confident in the surgeon, who has done over 1800 of these operations (four hour procedure). She is doing all the research possible on her own and expects do fabulously.

The hope is for almost instant relief from diabetes and three or four related co-morbidities. The major post-op risk, statistically, is pulmonary embolism. In her case, this risk is mitigated by the fact that she's been walking and exercising a whole lot, but exacerbated by the fact that she has a presently incurable and progressive form of COPD (rheumatoid-related bronchiolitis.)

She says if y'all would pray for her she'll breathe a lot easier (!) Thanks, everybody.

All glory be to the Holy Trinity.
May Mrs. Don-O be in good health.
But most important, may she and her loved ones be at peace with the Lord and confident in His abiding love.

Dear God, You generously blessed Your servant,
St. Pio of Pietrelcina, with the gifts of the Spirit.
You marked his body with the five wounds
of Christ Crucified, as a powerful witness
to the saving Passion and Death of Your Son.
Endowed with the gift of discernment,
St. Pio labored endlessly in the confessional
for the salvation of souls.
With reverence and intense devotion
in the celebration of Mass,
he invited countless men and women
to a greater union with Jesus Christ
in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

Through the intercession of St. Pio of Pietrelcina,
I confidently beseech You to grant me
the grace of (Mrs Don-o’s complete healing from surgery). Amen.

Glory be to the Father... (three times).

O GOD, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers; Mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to thy servant the help of thy power, that her sickness may be turned into health, and our sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Antiphon. The Lord saveth thy life from destruction;
And crowneth thee with mercy and loving-kindness.

Benedic, anima mea. Psalm ciii.
PRAISE the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, praise his holy Name.
Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thy sin, and healeth all thine infirmities;
Who saveth thy life from destruction, and crowneth thee with mercy and loving-kindness.
O praise the Lord, ye angels of his, ye that excel in strength; ye that fulfil his commandment, and hearken unto the voice of his word.
O praise the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye servants of his that do his pleasure.

Almighty God, through the intercession of St. Raphael, do thou mercifully and graciously hear our prayers for a successful operation and speedy recovery, that thy servant may give thanks, rejoicing in thy loving kindness and and glorifying thy holy name. Amen.

My prayers for you.

I had this surgery last April (2007) with the hope that the weight loss would help with the treatment for my Hepatitis C. I have not needed my diabetic meds since I left the hospital and all of the doctors have said this is not unusual, but usually takes longer.

I would not recommend this as a "fashion improvement"; as not anything fits me, and my skin is like a Char Peis -- or perhaps a baby elephant (thinner, tho).

I am getting ready to go back on the interfuron protocol (updated)and that is a great deal more frightening for me!

I didn't see this before, but -- now that I have -- she will certainly be in my prayers!

A friend of mine with COPD has started taking ivy extract pills and finds them helpful. She also uses a couple of herb teas: Breathe Easy (our local Rite-Aid has a GNC section that stocks it) and Breathe Deep (stocked in the natural foods section of a local supermarket). Don't know if they'll help Mrs. Don-o, but might be worth a try!

God bless and keep you both!

Absolutely! Rosary today for her and the intercession of the 3-T’s (Sts. Teresa, Teresa and Blessed Teresa).

Best of luck. This is so promising. You have a lot of courage!

Much love and many prayers offered up for you here in the suffering liberal climes. May God give you strength, courage, patience and acceptance of his will.

I’ve had many friends who’ve walked this road, you’ll do great.

If you need to chat (though you don’t know me from Adam), i’ll be here. Let me know if you want to talk to them re: their experiences, what to expect, shortcuts and remedies they learned.
