Imagine that a "documentary" film-makerwhose most notable former credit is a film advancing the notion that extra-terrestrials did indeed visit Area 51brought forth a new work suggesting that key elements of the Prophet Mohammed's story had been fabricated. What are the odds ABC would devote a segment of Good Morning America to a respectful interview of the filmmaker and discussion of his work?
But that's exactly what ABC did regarding someone who has produced a documentary ["Bloodline"] calling into question key aspects of the story of Jesus Christ. Here's how GMA weekend co-anchor Bill Weir introduced the segment this morning:
Well, here's a question, was Jesus married with children? Was the Resurrection a trick pulled off by his widow? The possibility, the world's greatest cover-up, was the basis of the smash novel and movie The Da Vinci Code. And though those ideas have been largely dismissed by academics as fiction, documentary film-maker Bruce Burgess believes he has now found evidence to advance that theory. Here's a clip from his new film.

Ping to Today show list.
I’d be grateful if people would ping to appropriate Christian lists.
Reality should be able to stand up to inquiry.
The resurrection was faked.
The battleship “USS Maine” was sunk by the U.S.
The Federal government “allowed” the Lincoln assasination.
Oswald was a patsy.
The Roswall crash was aliens.
No plane hit the Pentagon and the Twin Towers was a controlled demolition.
Gee, did I miss any? Where’s my book contract and where do I sign?
we walk by faith, not by sight; therefore, there’s always an alternate explanation, or two or three...
I absolutely agree. But is Bruce Burgess a serious questioner or a cheap sensationalist?
And again, I ask, would ABC air a similar segment about Islam, even by a serious documentary-maker, let alone one with Burgess’s background?
Yes it should, and Islam should also be publicly questioned as "inquiry." But noooooooooo.....and that is the point of the article. There is an enormous bias against Christianity in the media and in the government.
Fortunately for Chrisitianity, these attacks are typically weak and lacking in supporting evidence and usually rest on a severe twisting of history, such as Dan Brown's books.
War has been declared by liberals against Western Civilization. Christianity became the dominant religion in the West, and for that reason alone, it is targeted for extinction. Islam is at war with Christianity, so for that reason alone it will be coddled. Of course, the fact that Muslims tend to kill anyone who insults them also helps in obtaining liberal deference.
I think most know the answer to that, Mark. Islam is off limits; 1) It's today's boutique religion among the left, 2) It's dangerous to question Islam. So, no, Islam will not be scrutinized anytime soon.
I don't believe 'fortune' has anything to do with it. Christianity is a religion of faith. Nothing yet has been able to penetrate what the Bible has claimed, and it's doubtful anything will. After all, what we have is man's opinion, not fact.
Christianity has, and will, stand on its own merits. One either receives the Holy Spirit, one one doesn't. Those who don't will always question and criticize, but it means nothing.
“Reality should be able to stand up to inquiry.”
“Inquiry”? Man you got a low threshold for THAT definition.
(And I request some html-savvy FReeper post this pic.)
Exactly, why not show that film that the Dutch filmaker made about what the Koran states alongside scenes of the incredible violence that the practitioners of the religion of peace engage in?
I’ve forgotten the name of it, but a UK hosting company had to pull it from it’s servers due to death threats made against it’s employees.
The media has little interest in conspiracies involving the Clintons.
I agree. I used the word "fortunately" because these modern attacks are so pathetically lacking in any credibility.
And, although I agree that Faith is important to Christianity, it is also well supported by Reason, as shown by the eloquent apologetics of G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, and Francis Schaeffer. God wants your heart and your mind.
Fitna, let’s see ABC air Fitna, they won’t of course, because Christians are more then willing to put up with this stuff, even to the point of going to Disney Theme parks when they own ABC, Christians cannot even muster the indignation to say no to Mickey Mouse, the parent company of ABC, so why would ABC think that such tripe would cost them even dollars let alone public scorn?
ABC = Anything But Credibility
You can add basically everything that Rev Wright preaches about. AIDS being designed to kill only minorities is just a start.
Lewis Chesterson Tolkein etc etc.
The idea that somehow Christians are mind numbed robots with no ability to reason or even question is absurd, and stereo typical of the Left’s view of our Faith.
The sad thing is, the more they accuse Christians of that, the more they become the very thing that the they are saying Christians are?
What next “Was Jesus abducted by Aliens in a Occultic Conspiracy we turn to documentary maker...”
