Wrong on the face of it.
I do not know where that popular misconception started, other than to say that most people's education precludes actually researching and thinking, but rather includes only being told something, ie, dogma.
There is absolutely no basis in law that could force a political party to count votes for a nominee, or to even have votes for a nominee.
The SCOTUS has already ruled that political parties are, in fact, just that.
Private organizations that are free to choose their leaders in any way that they deem fit.
It might also surprise you to know that you have absolutely no Federal legal right to vote directly for POTUS.
That is left to the states, who then send off electors, who can still vote pretty much as they please. - in theory.
The only legal voting right that you have on a Federal level is that vote for your respective Senator.
Thank you for your post. - bill
Are there two Joe Bidens????
I swear if McCain becomes the next president of the United States, I may have to disconnect my Internet connection or else the profanity I will post towards Hillary will be of a kind that would make Baby Jesus cry (and make no mistake it will be Hillary's fault if McCain beats Obama in November).
Here’s your chair at the convention in Denver doesn’t mean he’s your vote.
No Michigan delegate should get to vote. They can’t agree on dividing up the delegates because it’s not in Obama’s interest to do so.
He can wrap up the nomination without coming to an agreement on MI or FL.
If you think after tens and tens of millions of dollars spent with the nomination just within his grasp that Obama is going to lay down for the Beast, I have a bridge to sell you.
By the end of the state voting, Obama will at most need a hundred or less of the remaining SPDs (Super Politician Delegates) to wrap up the nomination. That is less than a third most likely counting the ones who will fall his way before the voting ends. (Add in the drips coming in now this past week.)
So please tell us your theory and pass those drugs too.
Boy can you please say that again. What is wrong with people here who think a marxist in the White House is better than McCain.
Hold your nose and pull the lever. And get over yourselves.
That's Obama's argument, and you can bet we're going to here it again and again. Ultimately, I think it will win the day, but only good things can come from raging floor fight between Barry and the Hildabeast.
We had our chance and could not unify behind a winning candidate.
I’m holding my nose and pulling the lever for the old man.
Not sitting by to watch (either) marxist take the Oval Office.
No way.
I don't think so. Her odds of winning the nomination are very, very low. All Rush is doing is making sure the nomination battle lasts as long as possible, maximizing the damage to Obama, who will be the ultimate nominee.
Republicans aren’t going to win. The Democrats are going to lose.
Clintons cheat.
This very thread is about how Dean is now saying they will seat the Florida and Michigan delegates, thereby once again breaking the DNC's own rules.
Her odds of winning the nomination are 50/50. And when it concerns the Clintons, those are horrible odds for the country.
Welcome to FR. What part of Illinois are you in?
If this is true about the delegates, how come it isn’t a lead story at the FoxNews website, CNN’s website, or ABC’s website?
This is big news in terms of the delegate count and potential nominee.
There isn’t anything up on Drudge, either.
Where is the story?
Pocketa, pocketa, pocketa.
Is there some way we can hold this DUmmie to this pledge?
Bears repeating. Just win, baby!
Very first sentence:
Howard Dean appeared on the Daily Show and said definitively that the Michigan and Florida delegations will be seated. (H/t Scott Jacobs.) The video is here.
Ooh, this is NOT going to go over well at the lib boards where a good majority are supporting the Obamanation. The Obamanation wasn’t even on the ballot in one of those states. Hillary must be cackling with delight.
I would add that not only is it unlikely in the extreme that she’ll be the nominee, if they make her the nominee it will be a disaster for them. Imagine the contrast between Chicago ‘68 Part II in Denver and the steady-as-a-rock convention in Minneapolis. Hillary will have to spend the next two months excising the image of 10,000 neo-hippies throwing baggies of feces at the Denver PD instead of talking about policy, while McCain touts a workable health care plan and other stuff that has to do with actual leadership.
