President Bush blamed the Democratic Congress for blocking bills he said would have lowered gas prices, marking a coordinated strategy with congressional Republicans to shift responsibility for the nation's economic woes to Democrats. They, in turn, were quick to strike back. "I've repeatedly submitted proposals to help address these problems. Yet time after time, Congress chose to block them," Mr. Bush said yesterday during a news conference in the Rose Garden.

You'll notice that the President didn't mention the Gulf Coast or off California or in areas where additional drilling might increase supplies in short order. Only ANWAR was mentioned, which is why it's impossible to take him seriously on this.
Exactly, and they were handed a gift yesterday when that flaming idioy C Schumer said that drilling in ANWR would only reduce gas prices by $.01.
They should use that as a practical demonstration of the dhimmis utter ignorance of basic Econ 101. A teachable moment if ever one existed.
Why is that so hard to understand?
Considering that 50% or so of people pay NO net income taxes, why should they be concerned?
Harry Reid is blocking the building of clean coal plants in NV too?
How true, the leadership is all politics and no statesmanship.
I work in a public affairs office for a distributer of electrical power.. Windmills are great and are being added to the grid in increasing numbers..
But.. windmills also disrupt electrical grids when the wind goes up and down.. that power has to be adjusted so it provided at 60 cycles... Which means you need a stable source to provide the base power
Talk about price gouging. When is someone going to do something about it? Really, who deserves 15 to 20 million-dollar salaries. And the price keeps going up and up. Why are the prices so out of touch with reality. Why wont the President do something about it? Oh, no I am not talking about oil and gas, I talking about the cost of going to the movies. I am sure many CEOs would love to make as much as Johnny Depp makes for so little work. And the profiteers in the popcorn, soda, and candy industry are making a killing. It equates to price gouging to not let me bring my own popcorn and soda and then take advantage of me by charging $5 for a quarters worth of popcorn. And what about the poor? Why is Hollywood allowed to make the cost of their product so high that the poor can not afford to see a movie. Its so sad to see a child ask mommy for popcorn only to be told that they can not afford it. So sad too bad Johnny Depp needs another mansion or private plane so suck it up.
Someone who oversees multi BILLION-dollar profits.
We should also have nuclear energy!
