Gov. Bobby Jindal touted Louisiana's hurricane recovery efforts and tossed aside rumors he could be a possible running mate for Republican presidential contender John McCain, when he appeared Monday on NBC's "Tonight Show."

The voters gave that idiotic plan the thumbs-up, not Jindal.
Jindal 16!
Senate Bill 87 by Buddy Shaw would repeal part of the Stelly Tax increase. Baton Rouge is awash in money, yet Jindal does not want individuals to have a tax cut.
He is fighting SB87. You will have your eyes opened before too long.
Moon is talking about it now.

Lets see how things shape up over the next four - eight years.
Baton Rouge is floating in money right now. By the time all the deadheads have spent the money, there won’t be any left for a tax cut.
If we don’t get it this session, we won’t get it at all.
Oh, I understand they were against the bill. I’m just hoping their given reason—that they want the tax cuts to be matched with spending cuts—is real.
Like I said, lets see how the state shapes up in the next four - eight years. If he gets us remotely out of the Banana Republic we’re in, I’ll forgive him the Stelly plan (which, as noted earlier, the idiot voters in the state passed in the first place).
Lived the first 24 years of my life in LA and now live in Alaska. Don’t be enamored with Palin. She is not what she appears to be. She would more likely be a candidate with McCain as they are both RINO’s of the first order. Bobby Jindal on the other hand appears to be the real thing. He would be very wise to avoid the McCain/Palin types. Sorry to burst your bubble but the same thing happened to me after I supported Sarah with time, money and effort for the election here.
Do you not realize that Louisiana's budget has doubled over the past five years? Unless we get our money back in tax cuts they'll spend every damn dime.
Four years. Eight years. Just how long must we wait for the Drunken Sailors in Baton Rouge to stop spending our money.
Why don’t we worry about getting them to stop stealing it first? Oh wait; he’s doing that.
I want my money back. I earned it, they stole it and are using it to buy votes with.
They’ve had money so far this year to give every deadhead state employee from Tallulah to Sulphur a pay raise.
When do those who pay get it back?
Look, I feel your pain. I live in New Orleans and spend every day looking at the failed social experiments government has shoved down our throats and forced us to pay for. Any little step toward improvement makes me happy. I'm not going to hang my hat on one issue.
Jindall’s people were working the floor yesterday afternoon trying to kill the tax cut bill via amendment. I saw it with my own eyes. It’s that simple.
Republicans are supposed to be for tax cuts. At least they used to be.
I thought I’d lived under bad tax governance here in MA and NY, but you certainly have my sympathy in LA. I personally think governments at all levels should be about a third the size they are now, so I’m with you on tax cuts.
But I think Bush really hurt the Republican Party by increasing spending so radically in his administration. If I’m to understand Jindal’s position has been against the more moderate original tax cut because it wasn’t coupled with spending, but then his group backed the larger tax cuts, still without accompanying spending cuts, that was designed to defeat the more moderate cuts?
Yes, alas, it does sound like some serious politicking. I just hate being disillusioned over and over again by Republicans who talk the talk and then end up enlarging government when the get a chance. I was/am somehow still hoping for better from Jindal, but it doesn’t sound good.
That's exactly what happened. I was watching it live on TV.
Fine. After he gets Louisiana out of the dump and runs for president, you can vote against him.
Unless he changes his ways purty damn quick, I will not vote for him for re-election. I don’t see a whole lot of changes yet.
Tax, tax, tax. Spend, spend, spend.

“Backed into supporting a bill to cut up to $300 million in income taxes, Gov. Jindal told a Shreveport radio station he will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. But he wants the Legislature to make the budget cuts to keep it in balance.
On Tuesday, the Senate debates what has suddenly become the hottest bill of the session, SB 87, which would lower the income tax brackets to the levels before they were increased by the Stelly tax swap plan of 2002. The potentially severe fiscal impact of the bill caused the Jindal administration to oppose it in Revenue & Fiscal Affairs Committee on Monday. That stand caused Jindal to be blistered on conservative talk radio, where reversing the increases from the Stelly plan has been a cause celebre since it was enacted.”
