Here's a frightening thought: Leaving aside the issue of this particular case and even the issue of the highly questionable powers given to Child Protective Services, whose fault is it that there are not enough good foster care providers?

It's all very well to say that kids died in the care of the state and all, but maybe a little self-examination might be called for here. There's a need. If private people won't address it, we can be sure the government will put forward a highly unsatisfactory pretense of addressing it.

There are many people who used to be part of this commune who say the same thing. They broke free and have been screaming at the top of their lungs for somebody "in the government" to help them rescue their children and parents still trapped inside.
