McCain says N.C. Republicans out of touch over ad

Republican U.S. presidential candidate John McCain accused North Carolina's Republican Party of being "out of touch with reality" over its refusal to pull an advertisement criticizing Democrat Barack Obama.

In an NBC interview aired on Friday, the Arizona senator said he has done all he can to persuade the state party to cancel the television ad that criticizes Obama as "too extreme" because of controversial remarks made by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

"They're not listening to me because they're out of touch with reality and the Republican Party. We are the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan and this kind of campaigning is unacceptable," McCain told NBC's "Today" Show.

Maybe Obama should nominate Bush as VP. That way, you can guarantee that McLame will stop with this “Nice Guys Get Elected President” nonsense.

Because of the USSC I will vote for McCain. I will also work for all the CONSERVATIVE candidates In my state: NC. We need to change the congress. Put conservatives in and we will minimize damage from the executive branch.

McCain seems intent on pissing off the very people whose time, energy, and votes he needs to win. Who does he think works the campaign phones and writes the checks? RINO's? Independents?

Honestly, I will place a clothespin on my nose so I can pull the lever for this guy, only because the alternative would be utter and complete disaster for our nation. But I will not work for him nor will I pretend his policies and attitudes do not suck.

John McCain is stupid and creepy. Nobody has ever accused him of being smart. Is he trying to throw the election? Is he becoming senile? Is imploding a small step at a time until it is too late to replace him? The red flags can no longer be denied.

He lacks the energy to show up for most Senate votes, and he knows he is not up to being president. It is a ego thing for him along with sticking it to conservatives and bragging that pro amnesty guys are the people's choice.

Once again McCain has managed to put republicans on public trial for perfectly honest and acceptable actions instead of spending his time crticizing democrats.

Well said. And that's what I resolutely object to.

McCain disses NC GOP, NC voters should return the favor in the primaries by voting for someone else (Huck, Paul, whoever is on the ballot)

McCain is doing his best to lose the election. We have another Bob Dole on our hands.

If McCain wins the election it won't be because he tried.

McCain is the best of three evils because he does vote pro-life, and he will defend this nation. Americans know when to tighten their belts, so please continue to vote conservatively, even if it is a relative conservatism. :)

> It insulates McCain from the anti-Catholicism endorsement.

It does no such thing and Obama will run ads like that 24/7
McCain is a nutcase and now will never get my vote or support.

I think that they are “damning him with faint praise.”

Their endorsement would be a negative for him if anyone actually paid attention to it.

Sorry, no. No way this time.

And the words “McCain” and “Conservative” do not even belong in the same sentence together.
