Jenna Bush May Not Support McCain
CNN ^ | 4.24.08

Posted on 04/24/2008 6:29:27 AM PDT by meandog

In Republican circles, this could constitute a form of sacrilege.

Speaking on Larry King Live last night, first daughter Jenna Bush, who appeared alongside first lady Laura Bush, confessed that she's not sure if she'll vote for the presumptive Republican nominee for president, Sen. John McCain, and even left open the possibility that she'd support either Sen. Barack Obama or Sen. Hillary Clinton. KING: Do you have a favorite between the two, the two Democrats?

Let's quote her accurately, please. FTA, she said: JENNA BUSH: Yeah, of course. I mean, who isn't open to learning about the candidates and I'm sure that everybody's like that..

That is a far cry from saying that she won't vote for McCain.

Just the opposite in my case everyone I know and myself have alway been Republicans. First thing I find out when meeting someone is their political ideology and then choose whether or not we continue to associate based on that fact.

I know enough about politics to understand that appearances by presidents and presidential candidates are very carefully scripted. If that banner wasn't put there by staffers in the Bush administration, then at a bare minimum it was left there to convey a very specific message about the Iraq military campaign.

That banner was put up there to brag about the mission of the USS Abraham Lincoln for when they steamed into port. Stuff like that makes the families waiting on shore feel good about why their loved ones have been gone for so long and is good PR. You and your opinions are putty in the hands of the media.

Whatever Jenna says is fine with me. (Barbara and Laura, too.)

I saw her in that interview last night and I was impressed with her. She has her mother’s grace.

People like you make me hope McCain’s VP choice turns out to be extremely relevant to his presidency.

Jenna and Laura were on Larry King last night to talk about their new book. I was also impressed with Jenna. You're right that she has her mother's grace. IMO she's been trying hard to make up for her earlier mistakes...

I'm sorry you posted that picture of Jenna when she was so much younger. You might want to think about asking the moderator to remove it since Jenna has tried so hard to do the right thing in her life as she has aged...

LOL! Since that time, she tried to obtained alcohol with a fake ID, and was documented as staggering into a bar in D.C. with her boyfirend (now fiance) when the S.S. had to drive him home. You might want to also check the admitted alcohol history of George "Mission Accomplished" Bush and take note of the fact that he didn't go on the wagon until after his 40th birthday!

I think both of President Bush’s daughters are fine young women. As is John McCain’s. They should not be held to ridicule for some of the stupid things their fathers have done.

I’m a conservative and I may not support McCain either so I’ll cut her some slack on this one. She never says she is supporting either Dim. Maybe she supports Bob Barr or Alan Keyes or some other WING NUT.

There...fixed it.

You picked an appropriate name for yourself....

Wow. College kids/young adults acting like college kids/young adults.

I'm sure glad I didn't have cameras following me around when I was at that age. That's Jenna's biggest misfortune right there - a limelight she did not seek or ask for.

The MSM knew that day what the facts were.

The Lincoln flew around 8,000 sorties without a fatality. If the crew of that carrier didn't accomplish their mission, then no one did. Certainly the larger force, tasked with removing Saddam, had also accomplished theirs. God forbid the Commander-in-Chief recognize these outstanding accomplishments.

The UnAmerican Democrat Party and their surrogates here, and in the MSM have worked hard to change that day, that speech, into something sinister.

Its just more of their sabotage.

Exactly right. You are so wise. Everyone makes mistakes...

Time for me to leave. Have a great day!
