We need to work and pray for a McCain victory and improvements in our House and Senate numbers. God helps those that help themselves after all.
"It is my opinion that we need to pray for our leaders this election."
I believe you are right. I'll pray for them to have the wisdom, humility and will to do what is right for our country.
"Many Conservative are disappointed with the selection of Senator John S. McCain. But in one sense, he is the true conservative in values -- he has fought for campaign finance reform -- getting big money out of politics."
Ah, One, that is not conservative to limit people's speech. Two, IT DIDN'T WORK. There is more money, more big money in this election than ever before. Three, the system set up by McCain (and foolishly signed by Bush against his promise not to) has given even more power to a group of screwed up, far left, anti-American billionaires than any ever expected. Conservative? Jeesh.
"This should allow the little guy (or gal) more voice in what this country is doing."
See above.
"In some religions, it is part of the church service to pray for the leaders of a country (Ukrainian Catholic, for example)."
Okie dokie.
"We must pray for our leaders and pray that the Congress that is elected in 2008 will serve our Judeo-Christian country and help restore traditional values."
Ah, wrong. Government, by its nature, can NOT instill or restore traditional values. The US Government is especially incompetent in almost everything it does. Do not pray for this, you may get it.
"We need to win back the HOUSE and SENATE."
Pray for political success? I don't know if that is Kosher. Also I simply am unsure whether having some politicians I know nothing about, is better than having other politicians in office that I know nothing about. Why not pray for the voters to make a wise decision with their votes?
"Additionally, Senator John S. McCain may choose a Vice Presidental candidate that many conservatives will warm up to."
Okie dokie.
"I have heard it once said: YOU GET WHAT YOU PRAY FOR."
Lesson: Be careful what you pray for, see above.
"Obviously, if we are not praying (and working) for the conservatives values this country needs for this election, then God will not help us."
Okie dokie.
"We must be like the Old Widow who continually went to the Judge. Eventually, the Judge gave in the Old Widom because she continually asked the Judge to see her point of view."
The Old Judge wasn't a Democrat.
I pray continuously, and work every day, to the end that all liberals, including John McCain, lose.
It is my opinion that we need to pray for our leaders this election.

I have heard it once said: YOU GET WHAT YOU PRAY FOR.
Pray for him? Ha! A pox on him is more like it. He is completely and utterly detestable.
“2008 Election Prayer Thread for McCain/Conservatives: Day 1”
So do we pray for McCain or for Conservatives??? I am confused as to the goal here.
“he has fought for campaign finance reform — getting big money out of politics.”
And the Constitution be damned!
Maybe through prayer John McCain can be molded into something that is a tool for conservatives. At least with prayer we are trying to have God help us.
The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 is a sore point for many conservatives. So is the subject of the Bull Moose Party where the idea of a third party was used to split the conservative vote.
How did the Robber Barons (Rothschilds, Rockefeller, Morgan, etc) get Congress to pass the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 and get a president (Wilson) to sign it into law?
In a sense, McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform changes the rules.
Changing the rules can be beneficial if one adapts and heeds the warnings of the past.
There is no reason that members of Freerepublic could not take advantage of the change in rules to get Freeper PAC's formed, NRA PACs formed, Pro-Life PACs formed.
The more, the better.
I have worked for major corporations (GE, Motorola, and IBM), and I have seen the game of rule changing.
The swift of foot can win that game. We should be able to defeat the liberals if the rules change -- if we are swift of foot.
Crying and whining are for the liberals.
I consider the tracking of donations to help find people in Congress that can be targeted. And there is no reason that McCain-Feingold could not be amended -- to our advantage.
To those who say that tracking donations to Congress is bad and not conservative -- the fruits of not having something like that in place is something like the Federal Reserve Act Disaster in American History.
Do you want a prayer thread for mccain or Conservatives, as they are very different?
Having a prayer thread for the nation or the sitting President is one thing, but starting one for a loathsome candidate is quite another. The same goes for a day in the life of the President who gets no media coverage on his day to day activities.
I welcome references from the Bible and Torah on this thread...
Here you go:
"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you," Matt 7:6.
"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned, and avoid them," Romans 16:17
Change the next title to Pray for Senator McCain and then pick a topic he has been worthy of support.
I leave it to you to find one.
I will happily join your prayer thread. Our leaders need our prayers, and the nation needs our prayers for good and faithful leaders.
