WASHINGTON (AP) - Revising his stance on global warming, President Bush on Wednesday proposed a new target for stopping the growth of the nation's greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. The president also called for putting the brakes on greenhouse gas emissions from electric power plants within 10 to 15 years.

"To reach our 2025 goal, we will need to more rapidly slow the growth of power sector greenhouse gas emissions so that they peak within 10 to 15 years, and decline thereafter," Bush said in excerpts of the speech released early by the White House.

Consider investing in home power treadmills for the time when our power grid resembles North Korea.

We need to follow the money, just a few months ago Newt was anti-global warming too and now he is singing a new song.

They both must own stock in Al Gore’s carbon credit company.

And the worst part of this is that it won’t nearly be enough to satisfy the environmental “movement”. So he’s sucking up to them and undermining the economy yet they’ll still be ranting about him. That’s what you get for kissing up to extremists.

This Breitbart source is late and not particularly useful. Consider removing it from commonly visited sites.

“We are so screwed, its not even funny.”

Our only hope is to mount a resistance movement like the one that stopped the amnesty program. But I don’t know if we have the same passion or the numbers.

By now having the White House actually believe in this nonsense, we are on the hook to "do more". The floodgates have been opened.

Yep, he just admitted there is a crisis. Now it’s just about how extreme we screw ourselves, and no matter what we choose it will never be enough to some.

And to think so many of you laughed when I said that we need a “Climate Protection Amendment” to the U.S. Constitution prohibiting the government from taking any action to influence or change the planet’s climate!

While I like Bush and McCain on the WOT, they are very wobbly on Environmentalism. Maybe it is because there is a complete echo chamber in the Media, Hollywood and the like to say that there is Global Warming and we are taught in school that every Environmental phenomenon is man-made. It doesn’t blind me to think that even some of our standard bearers are into this scheme.

His timeline and goals are not that crazy, even though I don’t support them.

Anyone who follows the power industry knows that it, like so many industries, is about incremental annual improvements in efficiency. For example, power plants of 20-30 years ago, operated at 40% efficiency. The typical new power plant is now closer to 70% due to a range of engineering improvements implemented over that time.

Improvements in capturing CO2 have been more difficult, but progress is being made. There are lots of demonstration projects at different power plants where they are constantly tweaking the systems to make CO2 capture more economical. So, chill, dude. The technotwits will get this squared away before any of this destructive nonsense from the federal government ever sees the light of day.
