Obama remarks likely to hurt Pennsylvania effort
Statements on rural Americans may come back to haunt Democrat in fall

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) - As the Democratic presidential primary race heats up again this week, Sen. Barack Obama already is finding himself at a disadvantage over recent remarks made about rural Americans, say political analysts.
Polling data has yet to be released, but Obama's statement before a San Francisco crowd are likely to hurt his chances when the April 22 Pennsylvania primary is held. Obama suggested in the April 6 gathering that small-town voters cling to such issues as gun owners' rights or religion when they're frustrated with the political process.
The question is how far beyond Pennsylvania's primary will the issue continue to haunt the Illinois senator.
"I think it will hurt him significantly," sand Stuart Rothenberg, editor and publisher of the Rothenberg Political Report. "It certainly will hurt him in a general election because Republicans will take advantage of it."

Of rural Americans frustrated with the political process, Obama told a group in San Francisco: "It's not surprising then they get bitter. They cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

“Of rural Americans frustrated with the political process”
THAT IS NOT WHAT HE SAID!! He said they were bitter about their economic condition and so they cling to guns and religion etc.
The frustrated with the political process was his later spin.

Obama suggested in the April 6 gathering that small-town voters cling to such issues as gun owners' rights or religion when they're frustrated with the political process.
It's much worse than that, because Obama grouped in racism as bad things the shallow rural voters cling to along with guns and god. In other words clinging to gods and guns is as bad as racism. Look again at Obama's quote, the part about antipathy to people who aren't like them...

"It certainly will hurt him in a general election because Republicans will take advantage of it." Notice how Rothenberg tries to turn everything upside down and make it all the evil Republicans' fault. The statement SHOULD read, "It certainly will hurt him in a general election because it reveals his antipathy rural people and people of faith."
But this is standard procedure in the msm. Remember Willie Horton? The common msm interpretation is that George Bush used the Willie Horton incident to appeal to the racist attitudes of middle America. The truthful interpretation should be that the Willie Horton incident revealed Michael Dukakis to be the soft-on-crime liberal that he is.
But, truth be told, the Willie Horton ad had nothing to do with the result of the 1988 election. George Bush won on Reagan's coattails pure and simple. Dukakis never had a chance.

Obama and all of his apologists are now either liars or delusional about these remarks, take your pick.
Snob-ama explicitly said much more than just what he pretends now, something about religion as consolation in times of trouble: he described all those of us he condescends to in small towns as pitiful fools who are full of "antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment" [all as "a way to explain our frustrations" of course]
Leaving aside the gross hypocrisy of the most anti-trade Demagogues complaining about anyone else (allegedly) being anti-trade, it is clear that Snob-ama does not respect us or value us...... when he is talking with a private gathering of millionaire donors he shows how much he enjoys sneering at us.

yes, absolutely right. And, KansasGirl, I’m a Missouri Girl but we gotta stick together, we fly-over voters :-)) But this is a critical issue, BHO’s (and the MSM’s) spin notwithstanding. He can’t clean it up with any thinking people - he spoke his beliefs to a private gathering, that we’re all ignorant, unsophisticated, bible-thumping, gun-toting zenophobic bigots. Once again, he’s trying to change the focus to our “feelings of betrayal by the government” rather than how he REALLY feels about us as a demographic. Disgusting and devious.

Come back to hurt them in the fall? I don’t think it’s ever going to go away. Obama has done damage to himsdelf that is going to haunt him and the Dims all the way through the rest of the Primaries and onward. Barack Obama just said right out, what many americans have known what Democrats think, but haven’t had such blatent proof of before this. Democrat “elites” think theyre better than everybody else, in their big city mansions and high rises. They think they have a monopoly on brains and are the rightful leaders to rell us whats best for us. Being condescended to by degenerate flying-over pigs beasts...Well they and their Big City candidates can all starve to death in their Concrete Vampore leech warrens, and eat their academic “Ivory Towers of Diseducation by feral loser “professor” freaks.

he spoke his beliefs to a private gathering, that were all ignorant, unsophisticated, bible-thumping, gun-toting zenophobic bigots. I got a T-shirt and some puff paint bottles and have painted, on the front:
"Typical White, gun-toting, Jesus-loving Gramma"
and on the back:
"God BLESS America" - and am going to wear it from now to election - along with my visor hat that I painted "Typical White Gramma" on.

The good news for Barack Obama is that his statement will only hurt him in states where there are Typical White People who have a religion and guns.

RUSH:...The challenge is whether he and the media will be able to change the subject. He said what he said. And what he said was that middle America is full of redneck, God-fearing racists and bigots. That's what he said.
He also said that middle America is bitter. He doesn't see middle America as strong and forward-looking, a force for greatness here and in the world. He doesn't see middle America as the place that makes this country work. No, no, no. He and his elitist buddies and their brilliance and their worldview, in their minds they're the ones who make the country work. Barack Obama and the Democrat Party couldn't do half or more of what is necessary every day in this country for it to work. They haven't the slightest idea. They haven't the slightest clue. You talk about being out of touch, this is it. Barack Obama in his own words. See, he's bitter. Liberals are bitter and angry. You know this. You can listen to them talk about any circumstance in this country, any issue, from the war in Iraq to the economy to Wal-Mart to Big Oil to Big Drug, anything they talk about they are filled with rage, they are angry, and they want everybody else to be angry, they are bitter. And some are saying that Obama's effort here was trying to be sympathetic in his perverted liberal manner, that he was trying to relate to them that he's bitter, too, that they have a right to be bitter because they've been shafted. They've been shafted by government, they've been shafted by Republicans. And he's trying to relate to them. He thinks they should be bitter because he is. He and his fellow leftists are bitter, but they should look in the mirror.
So Obama says that people go to church when they're bitter. They go to church to cling to things. Wrong, Senator. They go to worship because they believe. Now, there's another aspect of this that you have to understand. Obama implied that when people's lives are tough and they become bitter, that's when people turn to and need the church and God. So in Obama's perverted worldview, church is equated as something you participate in when things are going bad. You only go there because things are not going well and you need to cling to something. So if liberals have power and make things right, then people won't have to go to church or go as much because they won't be bitter. Instead, people will swell the congregation of the liberal church of government. This is exactly how they think. This is a gold mine, folks. The problem is getting people to accept this and believe it for what it is because the Drive-Bys are going to be out there smearing this and rephrasing this and trying to divert everybody from it. In fact, Obama himself is out there saying, "Hey, wait a minute, wait a minute, you just didn't hear me correctly. You people are stupid. You can't figure out what I was trying to say." So it's our fault that we didn't hear Barack Obama correctly.
