Re the uniforms, I’ve been wondering if they’re color coded according to what man owns them, or some other classification. There are a limited number of different colors in the dresses, and I often see women and children in the same colors clumped together. I’ve also seen a few white dresses, and that would have major significance in this group — no way is that an individual choice, or even a choice made the father/husband of an ordinary family within this group. I don’t think these women even have a choice of which color their mandatory-style dress is.
I didn’t think of that! But yeah, no print or pattern and a pretty universal size. Could be a way of letting the kids know who their ‘mom’ was at that time.
re: Uniforms
The compound probably got a good price on bulk cotton. I’ve never seen so many plain pastel colors.
I’ve seen a picture of Carolyn Jessop’s husband and his wives in matching floral print dresses. I think it’s mostly a matter of cost and appropriatness (no flashy colors, no red, and no black)
You may be onto something. The leader banned the color red. It seems he has a “color thing” going on.
