Terri Schiavo's Brother: Misinformation About Her Euthanasia Death Remains
Life News ^ | 4/10/08 | Steven Ertelt

Princeton, NJ (LifeNews.com) -- Terri Schiavo's brother Bobby Schindler has been on a speaking tour this week that's taking him to colleges and universities across the country. Schindler was at Princeton University on Tuesday and he told students there that misconceptions still exist about his sister's euthanasia death.

Terri died in March 2005 after her former husband won a court order to take her life despite requests from the Schindler family to provide her with medical and rehabilitative care.

Though more than three years have passed since the Schindler family's lost their years-long legal battle to save her life, Schindler says the public still wrongly believes some of the misnomers that appeared in the media.

Though Terri was not on artificial respiration and not in a persistent vegetative state, Schindler told the students many Americans still think that was the case and that Terri had no interaction with his family and that she had some sort of terminal illness.

Though “much confusion still exists about Terri’s condition, Terri was not terminal or dying, and her brain injury was not going to cause her to die,” Schindler said, according to a Daily Princeton report.

He said Michael Schiavo, who is now remarried to the woman he dated during the debate over Terri's life, also made up his mind about Terri's condition without basing his opinion on the facts.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that Michael [Schiavo] fabricated the [death] wishes and that his brother and sister did as well and that they perjured themselves in front of the judges,” the newspaper said Schindler said.

Schindler told the students he's worried about the long-lasting effects of the debate surrounding his sister and that more Americans will see disabled people like Terri as a "non-person."

“There is no such thing as a person who is a non-person. There is no one so disabled that they have lost their value or dignity,” Schindler said. He said such a view would be akin to “walk[ing] down the same path that led to the Nuremberg trials.”

“Once you achieve emotional distance from people who are ‘different’ from you, it is easy to look the other way while they are being killed,” he added.

Ultimately, according to the Princeton newspaper, Schindler said Americans need to stand up and fight for the disabled, terminally ill and others who are in jeopardy of becoming the next victims of euthanasia.

“We need to fight today to protect those among us who need our care,” Schindler said. “It’s our dream in the future that legal bigotry against the disabled will be as taboo as insulting someone’s ethnicity."

I do not see a single family’s disputed decision as “the culture of death.”

This was not murder or conspiracy to commit murder. It was succumbing to the inevitable.

I am not saying I support or don’t support the final decision. I am saying that it wasn’t and isn’t yours or my decision to make. The woman is already dead. This is for the family to deal with. Let them.

I am pro life. I do not “shout it from the rooftops.” All I am saying is that the woman is dead and it’s time to let her go. Nothing you do or say will make her alive again. This case isn’t yours or my business to begin with. It was settled by a court of law. It was a family dispute. That means that it’s their business, not yours. Get over it already.

I miss t’wit when I’m tired or frustrated. I could ask him for a limerick and I’d get Mean George Greer or rotund senator Jim King, the hospice hall of famer.

If Terri had been an illegal alien, she’d be living and also have the best rehabilitation that Teddy, John Mc and Mel could tax us for.

I think it’s time to coin a phrase to describe those of you whose life is totally dedicated to this case and are so obsessed with it that you can’t let this poor woman rest in peace. I think Schiavonistas does nicely. Please, Please in the name of all that’s holy, let this poor woman rest in peace. Let the family have some peace.

Carla's one brave woman. She talked to law enforcement but unfortunately unbeknownst to Carla at the time, they were already Greer's thugs.

Then she got canned. Hostage woodside has a strange relationship with law enforcement.

Two hospice employees were fired in 2005 the day after Terri's feeding tube came out because they refused to sign an oath to hospice woodside vs. being nice to Terri. Sounds cultish, doesn't it?

Anyone could succumb to the "inevitable" if they are denied food and water. Nice try.

Have you no shame for starving and dehydrating an innocent person to death? Jerks always think that Micheal was the "family".

TERRI was very much alive and her parents and siblings started Terri's Fight and asked for HELP to save Terri's life. Free Republic was one of many groups who answered their call for help. As such, it was NOT A PRIVATE MATTER. 2003 was successful. Then Jeb Bush got cold feet and became a COWARD, yellow stripe down his back.

Judge Greer COMMITTED A FELONY. (well, more than one but Felony Murder to be sure).

Terri was doing fine until the deathbots killed her. Her life expectancy was 65 to 70 years. Even atheists were in Terri's fight on TERRI'S SIDE.

Martyrs don't fade away. They leave a permanent legacy and many misguided or twisted people have her blood on her hands.

Mikey's been real quiet since a woman was denied anti-biotics in his 33 million dollar brand new jail hospital where he is the women's supervisor. She was very ill, I believe they gave her a sudafed for a fever. The fever got higher, her arms and legs became necrotic tissue and by the time she was transported to a REAL HOSPITAL, all her limbs were to be amputated.

She DIED before the amputations. This 40 something woman rotted while under the women's jail's care. Now, they've gone and staphed a woman to death. Pinellas County Sheriff's Dept.

Why don't you just stop posting on Terri threads? Then you won't have to get all bent out of shape that we believe in fighting euthanasia as it is abortion's evil stepsister.

Demeaning this cause is really not such a hot idea for you. Terri is at peace and we strive to protect vulnerable human beings who get caught in a trap set by the merchants of death.

We will not be silent. We are your bad conscience. The White Rose will give you no rest.

No one is stopping Terri Schiavo from resting in peace, though her estranged husband and his hired and volunteer assassins certainly have tried.

You claim to be pro-life, but that is a lie. You call on "all that's holy" to do your master's bidding. You should know that God's aim is accurate. He will not punish His followers for the acts of Satan's minions.

This is a genuine pro-life forum. Not a decoy for liberals to practice bad impersonations of pro-lifers in futile hope of making pro-lifers look bad. You should take a lesson from the mistakes made by the Chinese. It didn't work for them, and it won't work for you. Why keep making the same mistakes, expecting different results?

We have helped to save lives in Terri's name, and will continue to pursue justice, for Terri and others. Deal with it.

>>I am pro life. I do not “shout it from the rooftops.”

You shout that from the rooftops, sounding like a most authentic leftie. You repeat all I warned against as if you were doing us an example.

It is nifty that you invented a new word, Schivonista for pro-life FReepers. That is clever, and another example of how leftists confront reality, with name calling. I really do not know what your problem is, but a pro-life forum like FreeRepublic is not the place, when you would have plenty of allies in the anti-FreeRepublic sites to join you in your struggle against truth.

Just a hint though when you make up defamatory monikers about FReepers... Be sure you have it right first. Shiavonista to most of us would describe the guy who would side with you and Schindler would align with us.

One time mom really was mad at me and called me an S.O.B. After a moment, we all burst out laughing, including mom.

What I am saying is that if you can't take off your blinders, then just take off. When you are in a hole, it is time to stop digging.
