Saudi Cleric Muhammad Al-Munajid Warns: Freedom of Speech Might Lead to Freedom of Belief
MEMRI TV ^ | Mar. 30, 2008

Posted on 04/10/2008 3:32:52 PM PDT by Alouette

Muhammad Al-Munajid: Some of these heretics say: "Islam is not the private property of anyone." So what do they want? They say: "No sect has a monopoly on Islam." So what do they want? They say: "We want to issue rulings." Someone who is ignorant, who does not know any Arabic, or who has no knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence wants to issue rulings?! They say: "We reinterpret the texts." There is a very dangerous conspiracy against the religion of Islam in newspapers and in what these people say. A journalist, or one of those lowlifes, wants to... These people are a mixture of Western, local, and imported ideologies, but they want to express their views with regard to religious rulings. This is the prerogative of religious scholars, not of ignorant people, the prerogative of knowledgeable people, not of fools or heretics.

[...]

The problem is that they want to open a debate on whether Islam is true or not, and on whether Judaism and Christianity are false or not. In other words, they want to open up everything for debate. Now they want to open up all issues for debate. That's it. It begins with freedom of thought, it continues with freedom of speech, and it ends up with freedom of belief.

5 of the world’s 10 richest people were in the middle east. Many of the terrorist leaders are billionaires.

Those on the top of the heap want to stay on the top of the heap.

Those in poverty and uneducated are not so put upon by the West. The money and resources are there. The neo-gods of Osama and Arafat had billions. They kept of from “their” people and promised them 72 sexy virgins in return for killing the kufir along with themselves.

Hussein had something like 28 palaces and was building a billion dollar mosque in the shape of his thumbprint. There was no need to sell more “oil for food”. The money was there. Saddam used the money to bribe France, Germany, and Russia into silence.

Basically any dogmatic ideological orthodoxy will be plowed under and obliterated by the Internet. Technology has its own laws and forces at work in the world, and any religion, ideology or doctrine that is non-updateable, non-upgradeable, not-hypothetical, will disappear in the rear view mirror. This does not imply an absence of absolutes in any system of values. It implies that the manipulation of human volition for any purpose that is unknown to the manipulee, any form of hidden agenda, will become poison to its practitioner.

The female character sleeping with Winston in 1984, as they were in bed, and Winston tells her she is only a rebel from the waist down.
