Newly Married Girls in Polygamist Sect Forced to Have Sex in Temple Bed, Court Documents Say

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Teenage girls, often younger than 16, were required to have sex in the soaring white temple after they were married in sect-recognized unions at a polygamist compound in West Texas, according to court documents unsealed Wednesday.

The temple "contains an area where there is a bed where males over the age of 17 engage in sexual activity with female children under the age of 17," said an affidavit quoting a confidential informant who left the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

So what? It STILL doesn’t mean that a girl’s body is fully mature at that moment, and that she is done growing. Having a baby at that age isn’t good for her no matter what *custom* is.

It doesn’t matter what people have done throughout the ages.

It doesn’t change the facts.

The Amish only chose not to have modern conveniences. This is not the same as what’s happening in this group.

I fully agree with you!

The Amish should not have been connected in any way with this subject.

Taking the Lords name in vain is a serious Act, it goes to the very core of belief.

I do it all the time without thinking in a crass society because its so common place that, well...Its become common. I try to make a daily decision to replace the words GD it with God Bless it.

Would you say that Wrights rape of the tenants of Christianity trumps this?

Fellow 'mom' every now and then I am trully amazed (I could say 'stuned') by what I read on FR. Usually its the noobs, the ones who sign up just to comment on a certain thread...that's to be expected. My 'amazement' factor kicks in when longtime FReepers decidely make outrageous statements...like 'rape isn't rape when its a (spiritual) wife;' statutory rape somehow equates to Romeo and Juliet; and then...well lets throw in a mention of 'slick women.'

Metmom, you like many others (I hope I could be included with you) made so many valid arguments...but when the discourse becomes so 'fringey' and can be so 'out there' I can't help but wonder if we are being (as Ashton Kutcher used to put it) being 'punked.'

My mother had 5 babies in 5 years. All single birth.

She was fortunate to have a private room at the hospital.

"Having children before the age of about 18 is very damaging to a girl’s body. They are not ready for it even if it’s physically possible for them to become pregnant."
"Historically, the age of 18 is a rather modern invention. It is amazing how humans survived for thousands of years, before we created our modern laws! "

Mom had to abandon them at some point to offer their children up as offerings

“There is absolutely nothing similar between the Amish (and Mennonites) and this cult. Period. The Amish live within in the laws of the United States of America...they do not practice plural marriage now (nor have they ever). The Amish are self reliant people and do now accept welfare so they are incapable of practicing welfare fraud (by producing multiple generations of illegitimate children).”

Yes, and they work hard and live honest lives, and they do not live their lives around a religion which is founded on sex, sex, sex.
This evil sect is founded on a temple religion revolving around Sex. “Sex in heaven and sex on earth and sex in heaven again”, -if they are faithful to have lots of sex, sex, sex, on earth- in an unendig cycle.

All the fabulous temple religions of the Greek and Roman gods revolved around sex, sex, sex.

It doesn’t matter what people have done throughout the ages.

You have been missing a very important aspect of this subject.

In their religion, they believe in what thousands of years of history have taught, and that a woman can be married after her first menstrual cycle.

You are making a judgment, using your own life experience and religious teachings.

These are not the same as their beliefs.

At the moment, thousands of years of history is on their side of the debate.

If you read my post at 185 and all you came away with was an Ashton Kutcher ‘punked’ reference, you validate my point.

OK, putting aside the statutory rape and polygamy issues, how do you feel about the numerous women who have left the church and stated, including in court, that their marriages were not consensual, and that the sex they had with their husbands was also not consensual?

In one of the cases that put Warren Jeffs in prison, the woman in question not only stated she was forced to marry her own cousin (she was 14 and he was 19), and that her husband forced her to have sex with him, but that she went to Jeffs personally because she did not want to have sex with her husband, and was told she had no choice but to submit to her husband’s will.

At the moment, thousands of years of history is on their side of the debate.

Fortunately, the laws of the United States of America, along with the Statutes of the State of Texas is on the 'other side.'

Why not? Aren’t their motivations the same? Maintain an socially isolated community (based on a strict code of frozen practices) to insulate themselves from the sinful world and it’s heathen ways?

Remember, I have two daughters also...

Sometimes it is a good thing to debate and question why a subject gets us upset.

Of course, we could all become Democrats and think exactly alike...

In order for the child to be exposed to this, the Mother had to make it so.

A Lioness would have put an end to that crap.
