McCain better focus on bringing a conservative onto the ticket.

“Wouldn’t this be the rats worst nightmare! “

No, it wouldn’t.

She is much more liberal on issues considered important to conservatives than folks believe. Abortion, for example.

If Ms. Rice were a white woman, with THE EXACT SAME accomplishments and the EXACT SAME attitudes, she would never once be considered for such a position. Those who promote her for such a job are doing so based on two factors:
1. She is black, and
2. She is female.
That’s it.

She has never held elected office and we have no idea what her temperments and sensibilities might be, under the heat and pressure of a political campagin.

Anyone here on Free Repbulic touting Condi Rice for the reason she will “win the black vote” is a fool, plain and simple. I predict that even with her in the second spot, it would change the votes of blacks by no more than a percentage point or two.

Best of all, if Obama becomes the nominee, putting a black in “second place” is going to provide him with AMMUNITION to attack Republicans for slighting blacks. Imagine this reposte: “Look at those Repbulicans - they want you to think your ‘equal’ because they put a black woman in the back of the bus. Vote for me, and we’ll be DRIVING that bus!”

Condi Rice on the ticket with a dumbazz like McCain will effectively elect BHO...she is the nail in the coffin for the conservative 40% of the R vote...can McCain replace that with moderates or Hill/Obama defects. I don’t think so!

Fred Thompson immediately comes to mind but there are several good conservative candidates available. I just don’t think McCain will look for a running mate there. Even Romney would be acceptable as long as McCain actually used him to help shore up his weakness on the economic front but like I said, I think McCain is going to ditch the conservatives and if he does color me gone.

What Barr are you talking about, and what is good about him from the FR perspective?

Not a good idea. She's over there now helping the Arabs defeat Israel, IMO. Don't want her anywhere near the WH.

Wow, talk about Free Rice being addictive, my boyfriend and I generally stop between 2,000 and 3,000. Of course, it is always challenging to see if you can get to 50.

Bob Barr, former congressman and likely nominee for the Libertarian party. Most Freepers won’t like him because he’s running on the Libertarian ticket and he currently works for ACLU. I’m pretty much for anybody but a Dem or McCain right now though so if McCain selects a non conservative for his running mate then there’s no way I vote for him. Barr is what’s left.

“Oh please oh please oh please. I know it’s undignified to beg, but please let John McCain pick Condoleezza Rice as his running mate.”

So that WHEN they lose, we can stop hearing about either one of them, forever. Great idea.

However, she is from the Bush era and at this poing people don’t want more of the same.

exactly--and this is probably the biggest negative she has going against her in the eyes of many voters... i think four years ago voters may have still been enchanted with her... but eight years in the Bush Administration have taken a toll...

She would be trashed terribly just like they did to the President. I would rather see her retire from what she is doing today and go take the Commissioner job. I think she would be happier too. She can do a lot OUTSIDE of DC to improve life. She’s quite a lady. I wish her well whatever she does. But, this no. The Bush era would drag her down before she even was sworn in. She deserves better.

The most important question you asked...

"How does adding Rice truly help with getting enough conservatives to truly vote for McCain on November 4?"

Answer...it doesn't.
