Obama: I Traveled To Pakistan In College By Greg Sargent - April 7, 2008, 1:41PM
The Obama campaign says it's not disupting this account by The Huffington Post's Off the Trail of some remarks Obama made at a California fundraiser last night, including this:
"I traveled to Pakistan when I was in college -- I knew what Sunni and Shia was [sic] before I joined the Senate Foreign Relations Committee..."
We don't recall this being public before, but if it has been, let us know.
Obama also suggested that he wouldn't be looking for a hawkish type to shore up his foreign policy credentials when searching for a veep...
"I would like somebody who knows about a bunch of stuff that I'm not as expert on," he said, and then he was off and running. "I think a lot of people assume that might be some sort of military thing to make me look more Commander-in-Chief-like.

Sure - I just traveled there as a Christian spreading the good news and was so happy on the conditions on the Christians I found there living in a muslim dominated country...

The press will pump him up, but Obama running for president is absolutely ridiculous. He’s actually citing a college vacation as foreign policy experience.

I will do one better than that Obama.
Before I was in college I traveled to Egypt, Sudan, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
However, I do not think that qualifies me to be President.

He needed to hear what his orders were in the madrassa.

Is it my imagination or is his speech beginning to sound more “jive”?

I’ve read several blog posts of this and, so far, no one has been able to find any reference to this in his books. Anyone here know?
If he did “forget” to mention it, he might’ve been worried about those State Dept contractors who saw his passport file. Better to let it slip out than for someone else to bring it up.

If you did all that and can balance a checkbook, you are still more qualified than Obama... or most Congresscritters for that matter!

I wonder if the many documents seized in raids throughout Afghanistan by our troops and in Pakistan by their forces have revealed any information about the Democrat nominee?? The problem is that if so, the Pentagon nor CIA would tell the public. They both shake in their boots before Pelosi/ Reid and the media. They may be fearless in the field but gutless at home.

“citing a college vacation as foreign policy experience.”
Or, is this must a little pre-emptive damage control before those passport records leak out?

Usually, there’s only one reason for most non-Pakis to travel to Pakistan (except for commercial reasons) - madrassa-based “training.”
Did Obama have any commercial interests in Pakistan? Inquiring minds would like to know.

They (the CIA and Pentagon) may be fearless in the field but gutless at home. 1. It is a very important part of the job description of the United States Military that it not get involved in domestic politics.
2. The CIA is fearless in the field?
