Security has been increased at a Simpsonville middle school after a student was arrested and suspended for wearing a T-shirt with a noose and a reference to the Ku Klux Klan.
Greenville television station WYFF said some students at Bryson Middle School stayed home Friday, fearing violence after the T-shirt worn by an eighth-grader angered both black and white students the day before.
The student lifted another shirt revealing the racist T-shirt in the lunchroom.
The student has been charged with disturbing school and recommended for expulsion.
No one was hurt. No one died. And unless there is some student uniform policy, it isn't apparently clear that any written rules were broken.
If you don’t have a dress code, however, I don’t see why a most severe penalty can be given to a student who didn’t break an actual written rule, much less get arrested.
I can’t dispute what you say... the article just doesn’t give us enough information to know one way or the other. Journalism is getting sloppier and sloppier. This bit of writing leaves way too many obvious questions unanswered.
Good Lord. What is this 1992? Malcom X was a while back and I doubt that kids are wearing that stuff anymore. It was a short phase.
