Maybe not Indonesian but how about...(with a first-rate accent, no less)

“fluent in Indonesian”

At his young age in Indonesia, he probably thought that all that Arabic he was hearing, and reciting, was the language of Indonesia. So, his statement is probably really an admission/claim that he was (once) fluent in Arabic!
