How do you imagine you would encounter Salmonella in upholstered furniture?
Exactly, corporations need to compete to remain strong.
It’s Mexico they get salmonella in everything.
I can see that capitalism is not your strong suit ..However, its the companys executives that better keep their company competitive,

Economics go something like this...
If you lessen the quality of your product you sell less and your company becomes less competitive
Our local American workers were skilled and experienced, and many had been loyal employees of the companies for years..
Now the companies are going to train non-English speaking Mexicans to do the same job...
Less wages, no skills, and could care less about a gringo company...
And could care less about giving you a quality chair to watch the Super Bowl from...
Or your wife a quality washer to wash your grubby clothes..
Popcorn
Here’s a company — all American made furniture — and they can’t build it fast enough.
Unfortunately, there’s a limited number of folks who can afford it — even though it will last generations and probably increase in value.
The fact is — the folks who run companies like La-Z-Boy and Whirlpool know exactly what they have to do to increase profits...and they do it.
Hi SCP,
Dont we wish we had Duncan as our nominee
:(
Okay, let me rephrase:
Do you know anything about Salmonella?
How would Salmonella live in a non-living product like upholstered furniture?
How do you imagine you would ‘catch’ Salmonella from your furniture?
“Does the concept of national sovereignty mean much to you?”
Yes. That has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, though.
Sal Minella lived down the block from me when I was a kid. Boy, he was a mean SOB.
Without reciprocal recycling of monies the consuming end of these products shrinks as citizens are forced to allocate more of their dwindling resources toward survival over luxeries. La-Z-Boy just added another tourniquet to the American economy while joining the piracy bandwagon.
Those companies won’t increase profits from sales to MY demographic, letmetellya.
I’d rather buy used and repair it a bit, like way back when.
“the folks that run the company” could care less...
if they were worried about what Americans thought of them and their product they would not have stabbed loyal Americamn workers in the back...
If they never crushed the numbers on the boycott which they were causing...that just proves their inefficiency..
Fire the lot at the top...save money..and keep the American workers employeed...
Efficiency will always be in America..
I’d say it does. We need a strong dollar and strong work force and strong U.S. controlled and U.S. sited manufacturing facilities.
And that’s even if we didn’t need a war footing, which we do.
Your demographic is insignificant. The vast majority of people want a name brand and a cheap price.
“Economics go something like this...”
thanks, but let me explain more simply.
The company has determined that they can build their product much less expensively and within an acceptable quality in Mexico.
Got it? They’re betting that the quality that is produced in Mexico is within the range of acceptability for the market.
No stupid union BS. Just selling what the customer wants
Selling what the consumer wants at a price that the US consumer will pay. Good stuff.
Will keep them in mind.
Unfortunately, we probably won't be in the market for furniture for a long time since we are all set. :)
We are not the type to change fashions, either. Boring I guess. The furniture we have looks great, though, and not outdated.
Next time we replace the family room couch and love seat, I look them up. We have already worn through two sets.
Interesting link to one of the companies I mentioned.

Didn't realize they filed bankruptcy.
I agree with you. I don’t mind used stuff & I deal in antiques. My furniture is made with dovetailed drawers & is solid wood. I will gladly stick to the old stuff. I like looking for it & I enjoy getting a good deal too.
Does the concept of national sovereignty mean much to you?
Yes. That has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, though.

Wrongo
It does to the “threader”
Namely me...
“Fire the lot at the top...save money..and keep the American workers employeed...”
So, when did you move from Detroit?
Thus it’s the job of some of us to create a sense of “enlightened self-interest” in those who don’t buy American for the ‘mere’ sake of altruism and principle.
