I don’t trust him either, but instead of snarking about him we should be making plans to counter him when he strays from the reservation.

But for many on FR, that’s just too much work.

Why should he worry about anything we believe if we vote for John McCain now. We already know what he stands for and if we vote for him we simply prove his point that we don’t have the guts to let the Republican party lose. If we are willing to vote for John McCain then as long as the party runs a nominee that is marginally less liberal than the democrat then the party’s political strategists can count on getting our votes. Basically we are playing a game of chicken and they are counting on the fact that we will blink first. So, I don’t hate McCain but I want him to lose so that we don’t establish a precedent that liberal moderates are electible.
