Thank you so much for posting this. I have a family member on this list, Donald L. Harrison. The fact that he is on this list is the reason I am struggling with the issue of having to vote for John McCain. There is no way I can vote for Clinton or Obama - but how can I vote for McCain knowing that he and John Kerry were instrumental in literally “sending these missing men up the river”? I still have some of the recordings of the POW/MIA hearings on tape. I’ve been slapping my hands to keep from watching them again. It was hard enough the first time while watching the hearings on TV. Perhaps it’s much easier for young people who did not live through the Vietnam War to think that McCain is a good and honorable man. I have no hard feelings against McCain when it is about his own experience as a POW. But, I do have very strong feelings about the issue of ignoring the fact that there were men left behind long after he was able to return to his life in the US. My family member did not have that choice. And, to this day, we still do not know what happened to Donald Leigh Harrison. I suspect we never will.

Yeah, but if we follow your logic we are likely to end up stuck with this sort of a Hobsons choice every election. Because if we elect McCain then the liberal wing of the party will know that they were right all along and we will vote for any liberal Republican provided the democrat he is running against is even more liberal.

“elections allowed independants and CROSSOVER DIMS. And by then, it was over, a done deal, ship it. Ninety-five percent of our electorate had no say.”

Here in lays our biggest problem. Which seems to be over looked by the infighting. Laws need to be changed as soon as possible to prevent a repeat. (I am one of the 95% that didn’t get my vote heard since the primary hasn’t happened yet in my state.)

We may not have the same end voting plan on this election but I hope All conservatives will join together and fight for our right to our Freedoms.

I think that is when we make an organized, well published and financially backed mass movement to a third party. We should think about doing it now.

"Out of the three people who have any chance of being President next January, only one is qualified."

I believe that the three people that I assume you are referring to- Thunderthighs, Barak (unspeakable) Obama, and our very own McCain have a 90-95% chance of being the group that our next president is chosen from. HOWEVER, I believe that the traitor party might have a broken/brokered convention, which might open the possibilities up to algore or barbara streisand or ???. The Republican convention is yet to be held. If massive witholding of financial support occurs, McCain might have a problem. But then, he might have some unconventional support in the future.

I don't understand what you mean by "GOP majority". Do you mean leaders of the RNC or the electorate?

Speaking only for myself, what does it matter in the final analysis? The Conservative portion, base, contingent or anything else one cares to term it was not strong enough to deliver a candidate that meets my criteria for a Conservative nominee.

The calculus being presented in this thread, and of course in many others, is extremely difficult from which to obtain a prognostication as to what will transpire in Nov.. But no rational observer, IMHO, can miss the implication that Conservatives were not powerful enough to stop McCain. And my concern centers around that point.

As far as I'm concerned, the GOP is seriously if not fatally fractured. Perhaps McCain will work a miracle and bring the party back to the Right, but nothing in his past instills confidence. I completely understand the position taken by many that John is our only hope for now, but the arguments of those who fear that we are on the slippery slope to the Left are also compelling. I watch, and I wait.

Calling people who disagree on principle with others “haters” has that DU-Daily Kos ring to it.

So I reject being called a “hater” because McCain has a liberal record on taxes, immigraton, free speech etc.

I’ll honestly look at this election and if McCain does something wrong, I will disagree.

"Perhaps McCain will work a miracle and bring the party back to the Right, but nothing in his past instills confidence."

My best hope is that IF he is lucky enough to win, he will take us the least to the left. He is already talking about international consensus, reaching across the aisle, and the pond for approval of our national priorities. BHO and thunderthighs, of course, will destroy our country.

I DON’T HATE McCAIN

What I hate is what he stands for. Tony Snow said it best, “The democrats are not your friends”. And .. Tony had to be in a position to really understand that statement.

For McCain to choose most of his friends from the democrat side of the isle is just too much for me. He’s deluding himself if he thinks he can change them .. and most of the time he doesn’t even want to do that .. because he JOINS THEM IN THEIR STUPID CRUSADES for stuff that really hurts America.

What I hate is that I will be forced to vote for him in order to keep the Clinton/Obama nightmare from happening.

And .. what is it with you people that every time we disagree with McCain - WE ARE ALWAYS TOLD WE HATE HIM. I think you all are pushing the envelope on that one.

There is no disagreement here. I am merely spending some time trying to determine what McCain might do, as well. The decision as to my vote will no doubt be forthcoming very late in this election year-- perhaps after I enter the voting booth. I appreciate your comments... good night.

You have my solemn promise.

For EACH TIME you post such pablum of RINO apologetics in support of McCain in the form of a new FR vanity thread, I will do my utmost to turn out one more individual to the polls in November to vote AGAINST him (as well as which of the other two dolts head the (D) ticket.

Keep postin! Hugs and Kisses, ;-)

Yah, Mccain is responsible for shooting down POWs and MIAs like it was Bush’s fault that the WTC was attacked.

Wrong enemy.

Now I would not go so far as to suggest that YOU have a stinking trap.

I AM going to suggest, though, that you SHUT IT.

Hugs,

You can’t tell the McCain haters anything, they’re too obsessed with their own little feelings to care about their country. They’re too stupid to admit they’re helping hillary and obama. Let them rant and prove their own stupidity. They seem to be so proud of it.

Get off your moral high horse.

If McCain cared one whit about his country, he wouldn't have pandered to the likes of Pelosi, Reid and Kennedy, and rammed that friggin' Shamnesty crap down everyone's throats or given Constitutional rights to the vermin trying to kill you, me and everyone else in this country.

Maybe you need to take a step back from the bong pipe and join the rest of us in reality.

If there ever was one recurring theme, it is this:  Everyone knows BHO and Hillary will screw up big time, and by the same token, they're "hoping" McCain doesn't.

The boarders are going to be a small matter if either of those two dems are elected.

You will be begging God to somehow give Bush a third term.

I don't understand what you mean by "GOP majority". Do you mean leaders of the RNC or the electorate? In general, I agree with your sentiment. We Conservatives got JM shoved up our collective arse, with no electoral input by at least 95% of the US Republican/Conservative electorate. In fact, many of the early primary states elections allowed independants and CROSSOVER DIMS. And by then, it was over, a done deal, ship it. Ninety-five percent of our electorate had no say.

You're right about that.  Montana's GOP had it's caucus on Feb 5th, whereby the state's party bigwigs in the GOP got to vote, and those like myself had to stay home and wait for the results.  The Montana GOP effectively disenfranchised every single GOP vote in this state that, by large extension, is trending Democrat.

I just have to say, that the Montana GOP is about as inept and incompetent as the national party.
