I think there are many for whom their particular "conservatism" has become a kind of religion, like liberalism, progressivism, socialism, environmentlism and feminism are quasi-religions with others.

For such folk, someone who is not their version of an orthodox, doctrinaire conservative is as dangerous as a liberal. Corrupting and leeching influences, don't you know.

I think it is probably that numerous such people are attracted to a good conservative site such as FR. What does one do try to get religionists to be real? If I knew that well, I might have become an actual pastor. ;-)

Poor John, he's been misled, by a lifetime of privilege, into the belief that he can often say and do what he wants when he wants to and not suffer the consequences.
