LIVELEAK.com removes "Fitna" after death threats

Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff, Liveleak.com has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers.

This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else. We would like to thank the thousands of people, from all backgrounds and religions, who gave us their support. They realised LiveLeak.com is a vehicle for many opinions and not just for the support of one.

Perhaps there is still hope that this situation may produce a discussion that could benefit and educate all of us as to how we can accept one anothers culture. We stood for what we believe in, the ability to be heard, but in the end the price was too high.

I got into another argument with my bible study facilitator last night (prior to watching the film) who insists that Islam isn’t a threat, that Mohammed is a prophet, the Koran doesn’t preach hate, Allah is just another name for Abraham’s God, our God.

Switch to another Bible study ASAP!

Before you leave, bring a Koran to the meeting and read several of the more egregious passages then ask for his response.

I appreciate the reply but disagree that I need to find a new church. I’m Catholic and love our new Pope. The facilitator is only just another human who I disagree with on this issue. I know him well and we disagree on this, immensely. We also disagree on the Jesuits. He jokes that we can’t set (my name) off when we discuss Islam or the Jesuits or Social Justice. It’s a lively discussion but worries me when so many don’t understand what Islam is, what the Koran teaches (even to those moderate, peaceful muslims -RME).

I’m more than aware what Islam is and agree with you. I knew this back in the late 80’s when I studied it and wrote a paper on it. Even back in the 70’s with a lebonese family who are friends of our family. Arab Christians, in Lebanon, who taught me tons.

i’ve already done this. I don’t know much about too many things but I know history and I know Islam and I’ve read the Koran. He’s just a typical person not understanding, or choosing not to understand the threat that it is.
