Barack Obama has based his entire candidacy on one thing. He wanted to be the first African-American to run for the presidency keeping the issue of race as far into the background as possible. And he almost succeeded in pulling the wool over America's eyes.
His good looks and charismatic appeal made many people view him as the next JFK. Some even thought of him as the second coming of Jesus Christ. We've all seen the pictures of him wowing the crowds with his oratories, women swooning, men cheering. And these were people of all races and creeds, desperate for a candidate who could transcend the barrier of hatred that has so divided this country over its entire history. Even those of us who are conservative, and who despise the misguided vision of the left had to admit that here was a man who broke through the walls that have kept our nation disunited for some 200-plus years.
But wait.
Were we really that far apart? What I mean is...the wounds of racial hatred have, over the past 20 years or so, been healing. The average American, black and white, doesn't harbor any ill will over those of other ethnicities. Most of us get along quite well. We didn't need a guy like Obama to remind us that race should not be an issue. The fact that he was embraced by the voting public should have been an indication that America was ready to put bigotry behind it and accept a black candidate.
And then Obama blew it.
We suddenly find out that we knew absolutely nothing about this guy called Barack Obama. For twenty years, he attended a church in Chicago pastored by a racist whose hatred for America, and especially whites in America, is blatant. Reverend Jeremiah Wright believes our nation was responsible for the attacks of 9-11, and that aids was created to exterminate the black race.
Obama then gave a speech in which acted as an apologist for Wright and refused to disown him. In fact, he continues to embrace him.
That's when the sleeping giant was awakened. The campaign that was supposed to eliminate color suddenly found itself embroiled in controversy. Obama pulled the scabs from the healing wounds of racial divide and now the issue of race is on the front burner.
Will Obama's candidacy be hurt by this? Most certainly. Will his continued association with this church be scrutinized? Absolutely. Will Hillary Clinton and John McCain benefit? You bet.
Will America suffer?
It already has.

I sure am - And I do not like what I see. The Obama and his Pastor thing just reinforces my anger about it all and my unwillingness to accept more of the same.
I've seen that stated before, but in pictures Obama Sr. looks like a typical sub Saharan Negro African and I've read nothing that says otherwise. I probably missed it.
Can you show evidence that he is more than just a Muslim African? Thanks.

I forsee 1968 like riots if Hitlery steals the election from Osama.
“If you want to see just how much better races relations have improved, eliminate welfare and welfare-related entitlement spending. Then, sit back and feel the love.”
There would be riots at every Best Buy and Circuit City. Gotta have that wide screen TV.
[We see it played out daily by these two.]
And others.
The descriptions are frightening. Yes, the Clintons care only for themselves, they seem to have no feelings of remorse or caring for others.
I believe “reverse discrimination” sums it up nicely. It should have been enough to say everyone is treated equally, regardless of race((period)) When advantages are offered to people, because of their race, then things ARE NOT EQUAL.
Plain and simple; and it’s been expanded and stretched to the point where white people now have a disadvantage in many cases.
Ditto with me and mine. And that's all that counts to me. :-)
“Obama pulled the scabs from the healing wounds of racial divide...”
Were these “wounds” really healing over the years or was it all an example of idealistic mumbo-jumbo in order to justify the diversity and multiculturalism that has been FORCED on this country in the last 40 years?
If everything is so idyllic between the races, then why was it necessary to pass “hate crime” legislation — something we never had in the past?
America is a collection of peoples of every part of the world. The world is not at peace — then why should America be?
Keep the powder dry, boys. We're in for an interesting summer.
“I forsee 1968 like riots if Hitlery steals the election from Osama.”
I forsee 1968 like riots regardless.
Bingo! I would say Chebama has set back race relations 50 years. What an unbelievable creep, and the MSM fellate him like two bit ho's.....disgusting!
Look at Lott, Imus, Duke and a host of other instances of the double standards that are applied on a continuous basis.
Meanwhile the Jacksons, Sharptons, Farrakhans and multitudes of other Black ‘Reverends’ are virtually untouchable.
Don't even get me started on the injustices of Affirmative Action. My parters daughter was denied entry in favor of less qualified ‘Minorities’ (AKA as Favored Groups) to Universities that subscribe to this bigotry.
When you think about how many morons there are out there, empowered with the vote--the wonder is that the country's not in worse shape than it is.
Folks, it's still a very long way to November. McCain has at least six months to go psychotic in, and once the dems have picked their candidate, the MSM will start beating him like a rented mule.
Yep, no matter what happens we are going to get riots, even if Obama wins Prez, there will be riots in celebration, and in gleeful anticipation of whats next for Whitey. This is because, essentially, a Black Panther will have the Presidency......Huey Newton will be dancing in his grave.
I know , right? Good looks? LOL LOL LOL
