A powerful US politician added her voice yesterday to the worldwide chorus condemning China’s crackdown in Tibet and demanded an international investigation.

“The situation in Tibet is a challenge to the conscience of the world,” Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, said as she strolled arm-in-arm with the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the restive Himalayan region.

I do know of a company size group of those arrogant b’tards who made the mistake of crossing into Nepal and who never made it out alive. And the brass involved in corpsing them was all 5.56x45mm.

What is wrong with this picture?:

Seriously.

Where are Republicans??

Has George Bush's 8 years of never taking a public stand on anything, except Iraq, so immobilized Republicans - the party is at this point incapable of taking a stand on anything??

— The China of today is very much like a Hollywood movie set: it may well appear to look like something familiar (civilization, for instance) but just under the surface you find that it is merely a construct or even a camoflauge.

And the Chinese get hideously angry when confronted with the facts of the barbarism of their society and the corruption and avarice of their government. Ironically, they do not see that their very outrage is, itself, a facet and a proof to my original observation —

I believe your original observation is very correct. However, please compare your childhood and your life with theirs. Their sllabs have been cut off and are living on their knees. They live in a mirage and a hell/prison (even sometime it’s fancy). They have been brainwashed and you can consider them mentally ill. They are jealous of you and hate you because they don’t have what we have.

"It is pretty sad when Pelosi beats them to the punch on an issue like this."

Historically, Miss Nancy doesn't really like the Chicoms. Prior to being speaker a couple of years ago, I believe she went on some kind of pro-democracy mission to PRC and got jostled around by security when she pushed the boundaries at some demonstration. No love loss there.

I was in Tibet for almost two months less than 10 years ago. The Chinese claim that Tibet was historically their territory. But, the Tibetans do not look anything like the Chinese and the Tibet Mountaineering Association, who all climbing groups have to use, are Chinese govt employees and have to hire Tibetan interpreters. When I was there, Chinese who would relocate from China to Tibet were permitted to have two children.
