Ya know...when I use a shoulder bag I always rest my hand on the bag and grasp the strap. It’s more comfortable for me. Once I had black teens making comments when I passed them holding my bag that way, insinuating I thought they would take it.

I notice that in both of the pictures of the grandparents on this thread, they are hugging or otherwise embracing Obama, he is posing for the camera and making sure he looks good. These people obviously love the kid. It looks to me like they raised this kid and loved him very much.

I only see one racist in these photos, and it's the Senator himself.

Madelyn Dunham, Obama’s maternal grandmother, said yesterday she’s “a little overwhelmed” by the recent events and national attention surrounding her grandson.

“This has all come on the national level really fast,” she said from her Honolulu home. “And of course, I’m proud of him. He’s always been a very brilliant young man.”
