Barack Obama is preparing to deliver a major address Tuesday on race, politics and unifying the country after being hounded by questions about his relationship to a pastor whose sermons have been laced with anti-American invective.
In a speech whose religious significance could compare to one given in December by former GOP presidential hopeful and Mormon Mitt Romney, Obama may be forced to explain the philosophy of the 8,000-strong Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where the Democratic presidential candidate has been a congregant for 20 years.
In announcing the morning address, to be delivered in Philadelphia, Obama would not say specifically what he will discuss, but suggested he wants to cool down the atmosphere after incendiary remarks by his pastor, retired Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., blanketed the airwaves over the past week.

That is the most deranged form of leftist “moral equivalence” around — yes, those who insist upon fighting back against jihad terrorists who slaughtered so many on 9/11 and in other terror attacks are really just like the terrorists, you know. This is the deranged leftist drivel in which Obama has willingly, eagerly been steeped for the past 20+ years, this is the man he considers to be his foremost mentor in the world (not just “spiritual mentor” — has Obama ever talked about anyone else the way he has talked about Jermiah Wright?). This is the worldview with which he is ‘educating’ his children.
Obama may say he wants to ‘transcend’ all this depraved hateful drivel now, but it’s a bit late for that.

Obama has been on the cover 3 times and can hardly claim he has never deigned to read the flagship magazine of his #1 mentor who puts him on the cover 3 times......that would also strain credulity once again!
I used to do the same thing. Then a girlfriend's father pointed out that correcting other people's language was a sign of low breeding.

What really bugged me the most was yesterday when reporters were trying to ask Obama questions about all this and he blew them off by saying he would cover everything in today’s speech and saying if he answered in advance than they wouldn’t come to his speech. THAT showed me that this was a totally crafted thing and very insincere, he won’t take questions because when put on the spot he stutters and stammers and looks so NOT believable, but he will give a speech because HE is in control of that. Did he even take questions today after the speech? If you notice when he is put in the hot seat he is not very good at being believable. He only shines in speeches, but any good orator can make anything sound good-—where is the question and answer time so he can be grilled? So the American people can see how he really feels and not mask himself behind fancy rhetoric. Yes his minister is very racist, but NOT only that! He is also against America and THAT is huge especially in a time of war with radicals. I don’t trust this man and our country will be in grave danger if he’s elected, however, no matter how the MSM and other libs want to spin this, the average American won’t be fooled by today’s speech, it was just more empty words crafted to save his falling campaign. Wait until the debates, he will be crushed by McCain.
I can’t see real Americans (non liberal variety) saying, oh Barack explained it, he has my vote again....I think McCain will win this in the end. I know many of you including myself would rather have had someone else representing the Replublican party in this election but when you look at what could happen to our troops and this country in general with either dim as POTUS, McCain is definitely who I would rather have as our Commander In Chief.
Others have posted that he denied something he didn't explicitly deny, and therefore he has been nailed in an explicit lie, according to them. I don't think so, based on his narrow, careful language of denial. But did he "tell the truth, the WHOLE truth, and nothing but the truth"?

Yes, I didn’t mean to give the impression I disagreed with what you posted - I was simply pointing out one of the ways in which Obama’s careful parsing of words did not begin to address all the real issues. Personally, I’m less concerned about the racism of Obama’s church and minister than about the far-left worldview that would be catastrophic for a US President.
