Dang! Has the National Weather Service issued any kind of statement on the tornado? Do we have any idea as to the size of the funnel, wind speed, etc?

You won't see anything of that nature till tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Possibly later, as there is the possibility of tornadoes for the area forecast tomorrow and they won't be out doing damage surveys.

The NWS won’t offically rule a tornado until they examine the debris field and determine the pattern of damage. And in watching the reports on CNN, the weather guy said that the storm prediction center did not have the Atlanta area in a tornado risk area.
This had to be a tornado, probably EF-1 or 2. The damage looks incredible and widespread. When the sun comes up this morning, we will see just how bad this was.
Take care and prayers to all in the ATL.
