Obama Pastors' Sermons May Violate Tax Laws
wsj ^ | March 10, 2008 | SUZANNE SATALINE

Posted on 03/13/2008 11:42:15 AM PDT by george76

On Christmas morning, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. compared presidential candidate Barack Obama's impoverished childhood to Jesus Christ's.

"Barack knows what it means to be a black man living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people," he then trumpeted. "Hillary [Clinton] can never know that."

Mr. Wright ...was standing at the pulpit before the mostly African-American congregation of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ, where Sen. Obama has worshiped for more than 20 years.

Mr. Wright, who will be ending his 36-year tenure as the church's senior pastor in June, has previously been criticized for comments deriding President George Bush and lauding Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam...

Trinity's national parent, the United Church of Christ, recently disclosed that it's being investigated by the Internal Revenue Service for a speech Sen. Obama gave to 10,000 people at a church conference in June in Hartford, Conn., in which he mentioned his candidacy and parts of his platform, namely health-care reform.

Some of the sermons mentioned Sen. Clinton or her husband in unflattering ways.

During that Christmas morning sermon, Mr. Wright declared that Hillary Clinton "ain't had to work twice as hard just to get accepted by the rich white folk who run everything or to get a passing grade when you know you are smarter than that 'C' student sitting in the White House."

On Jan. 13, Mr. Wright told the Trinity congregation that some people say, "'Hillary is married to Bill and Bill [has] been good to us.'" Mr. Wright continued, "No, he ain't!"

Sen. Clinton's campaign didn't respond to requests for comment.

NOTHING will come of this

As long as the blacks are willing to burn and loot and the government does nothing to stop them they will never be held accountable.

Rush was just nailing Obama and his Pastor/Campaign advisor in the first hour on some of this. Some of the best radio I have ever heard.
There is some intense hatred toward white people, and America in general, going on in that church. The Pastor states 911 is our own fault apparently because we do not support the terrorists in Palestine. Just amazing stuff.
I can't believe Hillary is afraid to go after Obama for his association with this racist.
Obama has been clouded in mystery for too long. He has gotten by for months by saying absolutely nothing. Someone needs to call him on this racism.

This has far-reaching effects not to mention that Wright & Farrakhan will blame it on the whites.

That’s what I was going to say -

there will NEVER be a “black” (Democrat) church that will face ANY sanction for its political activism.

Never.

“The Clinton Machine is reving up now folks.”

The Clintons have always used church pulpits for their own campaigning. As have Gore, Kerry — all democrats. A Republican can’t get away with it, but democrats always get a pass.

Maybe the IRS will go after him and his church..And maybe he will go home to Africa where he loves it so much..I have a great idea why not take Obama with him and Obama can be President of Africa..he could do so much good with all the ideas he has for us he could do for Africa...

If you didn't see this, it is totally racist.

CAUTION! Do not listen if you are easily offended.

Think about it, this will probably be the guy to give the invocation and be right there in the middle of the inauguration process should B Hussein Obama win.

The downside of the Clinton machine “revving up” is that the longer we can keep the powder dry on Obama the better chance we stand on defeating him in the general (should he make it). Scandalous implications and well founded criticisms only sizzle for a little while. Eventually the media and most everyone else becomes desensitized and calloused about such revelations.

Also, churches (even conservative ones) almost never lose tax exempt status. In all the years the spectre of political neutrality has haunted churches, I think fewer than five have actually lost tax exempt status for things like political speech (and, in at least some of those cases, the churches are still functionally tax exempt due to a lack of clear controls).
