In my Catholic school in the 50s candy was sold by the school at every recess!

We had vending machines in our high school that sold all manner of chips and snacks - including lifesavers and Little Debbie Peanut Butter Bars (I graduated in 1990). I think that machine literally probably kept some of us from starving during our extracurricular activities (which would last until 9 p.m. for some of us - at least during our dance concert season, and we weren’t exactly fat and unhealthy)...

Really ? Not at mine , and we were not allowed to bring any to school either . Kids can eat all the crap they want when they get home ; no need to take the junk to school .
