Yup, Qat, Khat, Kat are all names for the East African drug khat, placed on Schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act after our troops were sent to Somalia, and some of the plant was imported. Cathula edulis, I think, is the name.
There's a whole DEA section devoted to catching qat smugglers, most of them Somali immigrants.
How do I know? Well, not because of my prostitution ring (We actually charge more than 5500/hr), I do crosswords and Scrabble, and find qat to be a nifty word. My girls will play Scrabble or Quiddler with you, for only $500/hr.
