With few exceptions Poland has proven to be a bold and unwavering ally in a strategic part of the world. Money well spent IMO.

We build Iraq’s army. We build Poland’s army.
All at the taxpayers dollar.

Better to spend it on Poland than on the Saudis, of course Bush will do both.

Kinda late isn't it? We needed to help modernize their military in 1938. Then they needed several squadrons of night bombers, several squadrons of up-to-date fighters, a lot more fake and real airfields, and some asymmetric tactics.

Poland also needed to wake up and realize that in the end, Britain and France would not have their back.

It is about time the US offerred help to Poland - who got stabbed in the back by Roosevelt losing nearly 10 million people during WWII and ensuing years.
They paid the biggest toll during WWII.

The West owes the Poles a HUGE debt of gratitude. It was Polish King John Sobiesky who in 1683 led the Polish army in a crushing defeat of the Turks who were at the time laying siege to Vienna. With his victory Sobiesky and the Poles ended the Islam’s attempts to occupy Europe.
Unfortunately present day Western Europe seems hell-bent on giving the Muzzys everthing without a so much as a whimper. It may yet fall to the Poles again to save their sorry *sses.
To: technically right
“Western Europe seems hell-bent on giving the Muzzys everthing without a so much as a whimper.”
Worth repeating.

I don't think that he explicitly stated that US will modernize Polish army. Sounds more like he stated the fact that there is a need to do so, but didn't make any commitments... at least in my opinion.

Food, fuel, etc, isn’t cheap either here at home. The dollar has been losing value and yet we want to spent money we don’t have for other counties.
