A Keyes run would most likely hurt McCain enough to keep him from the White House.
That should make you happy.
Actually, a Keyes third party candidacy would help GOP candidates down-ticket. Quite frankly, the Values Voter vote which made up 22% of the electorate in 2004, and a lot of people who won’t come out and vote if there’s no Presidential Candidate will come out and vote for Keyes. Alan Keyes could at least save a few Congressmen, maybe a Senator. I think McCain loses regardless.

He got over 10 votes in the Texas primary, which is 10 more than he’ll get if he tries to get on the ballot as an Indpenedent in November.
Leave the party, Alan. You’ve never helped it once. Good bye. Farewell. Go Away.

Is there any chance that someone could persuade Keyes to switch parties before 2012? I really like the guy as a person, but the Democrats really do deserve his unfailing election year antics more than we do. Maybe he and little Ralphy Nader could run on a 3rd party ticket and split off a dozen or so of President Obama's votes in the 2012 general election.
Preacher in Harlem asks: "Are you voting for a white woman (Clinton) or white trash(Obama)? "
The real Alan Keyes bears no resemblance to the caricature his detractors are trying to paint.
