Republican presidential nominee John McCain said Friday that Georgia will be a competitive state in the race for the presidency and he vowed to return and fight for every vote.....

Well the guy in Iran is going to have them so...
I don't mean to single you out because there are many who don't know much about immigration policy and reform, but you don't know much about it.
>>Dorgan is a union democrat. He is opposed to guest workers because the union is opposed to guest workers. They want permanent workers because guest workers are hard to organize.<<
Your opinion, but it may be that he opposes those programs not only because unions tell him to, but he also sincerely believes that some immigration and trade policies do harm to this country.
Part of the problem is that this is the truth.
Some "compassionate" individuals feel that those "less fortunate" foreigners should be allowed to come here to have their chance at American largess. They have the same source of feelings as the "No Nukes" crowd or stop the Death Penalty wackos.

I fear that a lot of damage is probable from Alinki’s proteges. I do not, however, believe that the United States will be destroyed by four years, especially given the partisan rancor that is rampant in Washington these days.
Most of George W. Bush’s worst “successes” occurred when he reached out across the aisle. John McCain has far too much propensity for trying to achieve comity with the dems at conservative expense for me to be comfortable with him.
I believe that either Obama or Hillary will suffer from significant opposition from Rs in congress, should they be elected. That will not suffice to completely stymie them, but would stand in the way of their full agenda, IMO.
Having said all that, I honestly cannot currently say what I will do in November. My current inclination is to skip voting in the Presidential race, and to vote for conservatives down ticket (where available). That may change, but that is my thinking today.
Thank you for not devolving your argument into ad hominem attacks against me. I try to make sure that I don’t fall into that trap, and I appreciate when my debating opponent does the same. We disagree, and I hope it is accurate that we do so agreeably.
Have a great evening, FRiend.
(BTW - Thanks for you service in the Navy, assuming that your screen name and knowledge of the silent service are indicators of your history.)
I am not optimistic. Straight Talk Express is not talking straight. That means he wants to leave an impression that is not in accord with what he will actually do.
>>Yep, but McCain wants the Hispanic vote, and he’d darn near sell out his country to get it..He’d never consider Hunter.<<
You are probably right. So far, McCain has not been willing to meet us halfway. But November is still 7+ months away, so I’ll keep my ears open and powder dry.
That's the way I feel also. We will just have to stop it again. I know plenty of dems that are just as against illegal immigration as we are.
We have another two years - or more, depending on our success - to encourage. ..sponsor. . .support and vote for; more Conservative Republicans. Start 'here' and now. Meantime, vote; if even for a small 'r' Republican for 'White House'.

I know that you and many think immigration is a issue between republicans. But it always been between republicans and democrats and when it is finally settled, it will be between republicans and democrats. And the democrats will win. They have already won.
We must work to contain McCain.
Help him do what we want done and block everything else hard!
If legalized former illegals will vote Dem, why is McCain pushing amnesty? Remember, Hillary and Obama voted for amnesty last year, but it was McCain's bill. I don't see any sign from McCain that his amnesty would be better than a Dem amnesty. I hope he will change, but I am not confident that he will.
The fact that is lost on all the buchanites, number usa drones is America does need temporary workers, our economy needs them.
So McCain’s position is sensible, REAL conservatives who understand economics support his immigration position.
>>No it is not my opinion, it is fact. He did, for a fact, introduce an amendment to sunset the guest worker program.<<
I know. I meant that it is your opinion that he does everything because the unions tell him to. What you miss is that one of the purposes of the Dorgan amendment was to see if temp workers are actually returning to their countries, and how the program is affecting American workers. But I suppose that any “guest worker” program, being sacrosanct, is not to be questioned.
>>I know that you and many think immigration is a issue between republicans.<<
??? Not sure what that means, but it doesn’t sound like anything I have said.
>>But it always been between republicans and democrats and when it is finally settled, it will be between republicans and democrats.<<
Kind of a sweeping generalization, but it was more true than not when last year’s immigration bill died.
>>And the democrats will win. They have already won.<<
You may be right. Unless something happens to McCain, WRT immigration, we will have either a Dem or a Dem clone as POTUS, unless McCain has some surprise for us that he is saving for later. If he would come back from the dark side, I would vote for him, but....
WRT immigration, what country's interests does McCain give the highest priority? Juan Hernandez, McCain's Hispanic Outreach Director:
we, conservatives, must get OFF the POTUS race or nothing mentality - concerning mcpain - that the media wants us to focus on
he is not our, conservatives, candidate, but he will be our, gop, candidate
the majority of us, conservatives, will hold our nose and eagerly vote for him so as to not lift up billary/obama
but, before we do that
we will put our activism and our conservatism into the congressional races
we will, after those races, still have enough votes to derail a harriet meiers or illegal amnesty, whether the proposing potus is mcpain or otherwise
now, if you are not yet in that ‘we will’ category, regarding working to promote our reps in congress, then get out there and change your status to ‘i am’, and quit worrying so singularly on mcpain
Excellent work! Nothing speaks louder than a voting record.
