HILLARY Clinton has been branded a "monster" by one of Barack Obama's top advisers, as the gloves come off in the race to win the Democrat nomination.
In recent TV appearances Mrs Clinton had looked desperate and on the back foot. In an unguarded moment during an interview with The Scotsman in London, Samantha Power, Mr Obama's key foreign policy aide, let slip the camp's true feelings about the former first lady.
Her comments came as Mr Obama, whose defeats in Texas and Ohio on Tuesday were largely attributed to a series of negative attacks on him, vowed to turn up the heat on Mrs Clinton over her claims to be the more experienced candidate.
Yesterday, the Obama camp went on the offensive, pointing out that Mrs Clinton has still not released her tax return and casting doubt on her experience.
In response, a Clinton adviser said the attack reminded him of the witch-hunt led by special prosecutor Kenneth Starr, which led to the impeachment of her husband, Bill, when he was president.
Earlier, clearly rattled by the Ohio defeat, Ms Power told The Scotsman Mrs Clinton was stopping at nothing to try to seize the lead from her candidate.
"We f***** up in Ohio," she admitted. "In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio's the only place they can win.
"She is a monster, too that is off the record she is stooping to anything," Ms Power said, hastily trying to withdraw her remark.

It just gets better and better.
This is getting fun:)
Can’t argue with her.
But Obama sure has surrounded himself with a lot of loose cannons.
Loch Ness has nothing on Chappaqua.
Ms Power will soon resign to spend more time with her family, even though she spoke the truth.
Popcorn. Need popcorn.
My 23 year old son was flirting with supporting Obama. A couple of days ago he said to me "You know, the Democrats are a mess but the Republicans really have their s**t together." I wonder how many other people his age are starting to think this way?
Hopefully, many of these young people will. Obama is definitely empty of anything. Hildabeast wants control at any cost and will promise anything to anybody to secure a vote. Young people have not been at it long enough to know that all of this is just empty talk. I can remember when I liked the sounds of JFK!!!
Interpretation...GOP is solid turds and DNC is diarrhea.
Got something right, how bout that!
JFK speeches actually had some substance. Plus, he was a combat veteran and had been in Congress 12 years prior to running. IOW, there was actually some there there.
Typical Democrats. They attack Republicans, but sooner of later, they turn on each other. They CANNOT AND WILL NOT stop with personal attacks.
You know... just between, you, me and the lamp post.
Political junkies like us might view it that way. But casual observers, i.e. most of the population, see a short and civil campaign among the GOP to select a candidate while the Dems are having a mud wrestling match soon to degenerate into Roman style gladiatorial combat. This is making a big impression. I'm getting optimistic. Say what you will about McCain he's far better than the alternative IMHO.
Oopsie, Obamaphile. Just because you say it doesn't mean it's true.
ping :)
If Hilary is a “monster,” what is a man who voted four times against the “Infants Born Alive Protection Act”? Moloch?
