title:article title here
will give you an article search, and by:user name here
will give you a user search. You can also use it to jump to other pages on the site. For example, do:mail
will take you to your inbox and do:pings
will take you to your pings. All major pages on the site will eventually have do codes.
Also, the field is pre-filled with the code that will take you back to the page. This is to advertise the functionality of the box.
By the way, going to see about adding a google:search phrase here
to perform a Google search of the entire site. Hope to have that in before bedtime tonight.
Google search prepending site: ?
Cool beans John. Great job you’ve done.
Thanks!
Whew!! With all this feedback I thought they’d blown you right off the thread! lol I’m sure you realized before you asked for comments what would happen. :~) FR members are not known for holding back. ;~)
LOL, good luck
Oh and Hay John, it's coming together real good, thanks!
Thanks so much, John!
See my #487 .... WOOO HOOO !
I think I can now fall asleep .. LOL
How about a small button that shows a JS tooltip onclick if javascript is enabled and degrades to a flat html page?
I imagine you’d want to do a stripped down, roll your own kind of solution rather than using something like Prototype, which would add too much to the page size, but as long as you don’t go too crazy with the bells and whistles, it shouldn’t take up a lot of space.
A lean, stripped down tooltip script might be good for a bunch of things around here to help explain how things are used.
The main problem is that the first search page returns 20 titles but the next follow-up page starts at 50 instead of continuing from 20. Thirty titles are lost leading to duplicate posts and other problems. This is the way the title search returns posts in the current system; thirty titles are skipped each time:
1-20
51-70
101-120
(etc.)
