Iraqi Security Forces, advised by U.S. Special Forces, detain three suspected insurgents in overnight operations Multi-National Corps – Iraq PAO

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Security Forces, advised by U.S. Special Forces, detained three suspected insurgents during three separate operations March 19.

In Balad, Iraqi Special Operations Forces detained one suspected insurgent who is believed to be responsible for extorting money from Iraqi civilians who work on Logistics Support Area Anaconda. He is also reported to be personally involved in conducting improvised explosive device and indirect fire attacks against LSAA.

Near Balad, ISOF detained a suspected insurgent who is said to be a command wire improvised explosive device cell leader who has conducted attacks against Iraqi and Coalition forces on LSAA. He is believed to be responsible for an October 2007 attack, which killed one Coalition forces Soldier and wounded four others.

In another operation in Mosul, Iraqi Security Forces detained a suspected insurgent cell leader who is reported to lead insurgent activities against Iraqi and Coalition forces.

Iraqi Army, U.S. Special Forces detain two suspected insurgents in Al Qayyarah
Multi-National Corps – Iraq PAO

BAGHDAD – A platoon from 2nd Iraqi Army Division, advised by U.S. Special Forces, detained two suspected insurgents in Al Qayyarah. Both men are reportedly responsible for supporting insurgent activities in Northern Iraq by giving money and supplies to al Qaeda in Iraq, as well as facilitating the movement of foreign fighters toward Mosul.
