They Trained. They Plotted. Then They Bailed.”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Looking at al-Qaeda dropouts, some clear patterns emerge. Some left after becoming disillusioned with the group’s tactics and strategy. Probably the unkindest cut from any former member was delivered by bin Laden’s fourth son, Omar bin Laden, who had spent nearly five years living in Afghan training camps. After 9/11, Omar quit al-Qaeda, calling the attacks “craziness,” according to the journalist Peter Bergen. “Those guys are dummies,” bin Laden’s son said. “They have destroyed everything, and for nothing. What did we get from Sept. 11?””

What did they get from 9/11, he sez.
JMHO, but it seems *somebody* got a very finely gift-wrapped, XXXL economy-sized, automatically opening and dispensing can of Whupa$$.
Enjoy. We got more.
The forgotten front of the WOT. There are some rumors building that the Tali / AQ have shored up their bases in Pakistan - due in large part to the internal chaos in the gov’t there, and are now redevoting resources to Afghanistan. The question to be answered is will there be a substantial change in tactics? Previous years had relatively large formations of Tali taking border regions. These forces would eventually be pushed out by our troops and smashed by our ground and air assets. This had the effect of turning the Tali offensives into a meat grinder for them. Internal issues in Pakistan are likely the reason we’ve started to more agressively strike across the border at Tali/AQ headquarters. Anyway, heres a report on the developing action:
