K-Lo, writing here from Austin, Texas.
Not sure why the networks havent picked up on this, but there is definitely a sizable portion of the vote in Texas tonight comprised of Republican voters looking to game the Democratic primary. I spoke with numerous friends today, who claim to be Republican, who said they voted for Sen Clinton with the thought that it will prolong the Dem in-fighting and therefore benefit Republicans. I wont debate the merits of their argument here, but the phenomenon (Republicans voting for Sen Clinton to gain the system) is real and I think material to the results. Im surprised I havent seen anyone reporting it and just how large the impact might be. Im sure it is contributing to the number of voters deciding in the final three days to support Sen. Clinton. Would be curious to hear your contributors comment on this dynamic. The VRWC conspires to save the Clinton campaign?
Rush did however help the Hildebeast win Texas and revive her chances when she and Bubba were about to be put away.
He doesn’t have to be forced to do anything. Hillary won’t have him (she won’t put somebody she doesn’t trust on the ticket — I can only see that being Richardson). He won’t have Hillary (especially since he’d have to watch his back at every turn). This will be her last hurrah. If she doesn’t get the nomination now, she never will, and she’ll likely retire from the Senate in short order, which was nothing more than a stepping stone in the first place. Obama can wait it out if he so wishes.
“”Polling data 8 months before the election is completely worthless.””
“Polling data is considered worthless by the person who doesn’t like the results, and taken as gospel by the person who does.”
Perhaps, but in my case I like the results and still think they are worthless. :-)
Not only Rush, but Levine, Hannity, Coulter, and old crooked-mouth Laura Ingraham as well. All of them picked up the ‘strategy’, Coulter said she’d campaign for Hillary against McPain.
Have you ever heard this proverb?
Rush's ratings have gone up substantially in the past 8 years and if I'm not mistaken, the person in the oval office was not a Klintoon.
Wise up!!!
You wrote:
Rush has always said, going back to the ‘92 election,
“My ratings are NOT determined by who wins elections.”
I reply:
What do you expect him to say? If he admits that elections affect his ratings, his vote for Clinton “ploy” is seen as shallow and self-serving, costing him listeners. A man with an ego as big as (add your own punchline), could not tolerate that!
Figure of speech, but Rush did egg on a bunch of his listeners (who are also responsible).
EXACTLY, but lord McCain's own democrat campaign guy has said he will quit the campaign if lord McCain goes negative on Obama.... Rush knows old Hillary won't be held back from exposing that ten miles of nothingness.
Chaos.
That would be scary. They'd have the black/white mix, male/female mix, young/older mix and the liberal/more conservative mix covered. On top of whatever positive quality former President Bill Clinton lends to the decision making process.
“”We need to game the next Dem primaries and vote en-mass for Barry O.
BE THE CHAOS!!””
You are correct, but we are running out of opportunities. the only Dem primaries which are open are Mississippi, North Carolina and Indiana. The rest are closed primaries. Every Republican in those states MUST turn out for those primaries to seal the deal for Obama. If we don’t...I fear that the Hildebeast will be the next president.
I’m glad Obama wasn’t anointed last night without being asked hard questions. I’m glad there is no slime Hillary is not ready and willing to throw his way. I’m glad the two will be spending piles of money in the next seven weeks attacking each other and not McCain.
Obama has effectively prevented federal funds from flowing to McCain. Without the Dem primary fracas continuing, Obama would be free to run glowing, positive “Yes, we can!” ads unopposed. Now he can’t.
The best scenario was for Hillary to win Ohio and Obama in Texas. However, Obama did win the caucus in Texas.
If they do a do-over, perhaps we can force an open primary in both Florida and Michigan and win the nomination for Obama at that point. Notwithstanding her negatives, I agree that the Clintons would be more formidable and experienced in a general election campaign.
I can’t stand that crooked-mouthed smug witch (Ingraham). Always have, don’t know why. Something about her is just grating.
Looks to me like all you Rush critics are just closet Obama supporters trolling to test your dim candidates support.
“Poor Rush doesnt realize that she is the queen of sleaze, and will outfox his sly ploy.”
I agree with Rush on most things, but I think he made a huge mistake on this one.
Even if she loses this time, we have given her a platform to try again in 2012. Better to drive a stake into her heart now.
I don’t think that its possible to say at this point in time whether Rush’s strategy worked, didn’t work, was brilliant, or stupid.
But yet there are so many here who claim to know the eventual outcome of a very complex and volatile situation only hours after the polls closed in TX and OH.
I wonder why these geniuses don’t have talk shows?

John McCain will go to Washignton today and take over the RNC. He will be able to plan its fundraising and arrange for the party to run “advocacy ads” for him. I am more worried about what a rejuvenated Hillary will do if she steals the nomination and wins the election.
Rush blew it!!! There is no other way to say it.
<”Rush knows what he’s doing”>
I’m sure you’ll get flamed, but IMHO, you are absolutely right.
