I'm skeptical. Like Southack, I think the fact there are two camera angles from the top and base of the cliff make this appear staged. The lifelessness of the puppy is odd, too. Nothing in the pictures can locate this in Iraq versus any other arid place, such as the American Southwest.
I'm ex-Army, but don't Marines today wear uniform patches with unit, name, rank, etc? I see nothing on these uniforms.
I'm skeptical until I get more info, as the Daily Mail should have been. Shame on them.

There is no second camera angle, where did you get that from?
I saw the video earlier then I went to watch it again and it got pulled. To me the film was continuously filmed. If these were Army guys, there would be an American flag on the shoulder. Marines and Sailors do not wear any patches that are on the sleeves of the blouse, they have rank devices on the collar. The flak vest does look authentic but it looks like there is no SAPI plate inserted in the chest. The poor quality of the film does make it hard to see if the uniform is the DUU’s or the Marine Desert ditigals. The first thing I thought of was what weapon the person might be holding, but I could not see it at all up until the last half of a second before the film ended, it appeared to be something that looked like a rifle butt under his arm.
Like I said, I would need to know who posted it. It seems just too contrived to me to have a couple of guys with a puppy being launched for all the world to see.
Come on, hurting puppies? It’s just so cliche.
