If we focus on the likely Democratic rival, Barack Obama, things aren't looking bad at all for the GOP.
I think those Italian Jersey Democrats won’t be voting for HUSSEIN Obama.
“New Jersey: Obama-McCain a Toss-Up”
McCain, liberal enough to have a shot in N.J.
If NJ is a toss up for Obama and McCain, Obama hasn’t a chance in the rest of the country. NJ, CA, NY, MA and CT are automatics for the dems and if any of them are on the bubble,it suggests the others might be in play as well. If so McCain wins, IMHO
Whether Obama wins, or McCain wins, the democRATS will have their man in the Whitehouse. (See tagline)
They also elected NJ's defiantly unembalmed Senator Lautenberg.
He loses 50-60% of white male democrats to McCain easy.
While it may not be the most popular idea here at FR, I have been saying from the start that Obama is McCain’s and the GOP’s only real shot to win this election, short of a bloomberg ticket on a 3rd party. - and that’s not going to happen.
Personally, I think that an Obama win in the Dem primary knocking out the Clintons once and for all, is nothing short of a visible interposition of God that gives the GOP a fighting chance in 08.
> She has no chance of winning her party
She has every chance.
Never underestimate the hypocrisy (and frankly, racism) of Northeastern liberals. I don’t see them voting for a black man.
If McCain can win in NJ, he can win anywhere. Of course, it is kind of like that old line about not wanting to join any club that would have me as a member...
NJ is pretty fed up with Dems, even though it keeps voting for them. President Bush made NJ a single-digit race back in 2004 and I think that Senator McCain can keep it competitive, too. Even if we don’t win it outright, keeping it competitive is a good plan.
BTW, I live in NJ and on the grassroots level, I have talked with life long Dem here who have told me they would never vote for Obama, and once more would vote for McCain
I grew up with an ornery old Italian Catholic grandfather. Trust me, old Italian Catholic guys (and gals) won’t be voting for Barack Obama. Neither will old Irish guys or other old ethnic guys. And states like New Jersey and Pennsylvania are where these guys live.
The Democrats are basically giving us huge chunks of the northeast if they nominate Obama. I don’t think they can make up for those losses elsewhere.
This is significant news. Maybe, if McCain maintains his strength in NJ, he can help unseat Frank Lautenburg.
There was a thread earlier this week claiming 20% of Dems might come over and vote for McCain if Obama is the candidate.
I got a feeling it may even be higher than that.
Obama is cooked.
Its over.
McCain will be the next Prez. Not Obama. Mark my words.
Did you ever think you’d see good news about defeating our Dem enemies being attacked by so called Repub. Irrational .
If NJ is a toss-up I wonder what that says for PA. If Obama loses PA he’s toast.
Wow! If Obama can’t decisively win a liberal socialist toilet like New Jersey, he’s toast in civilized states.
I don’t believe this poll. This may shock you, but Hillary supporters will lie to pollsters by saying they would vote for McCain over Obama bin liberal.
