McCain also has the support of Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss. The state's two Republican U.S. senators endorsed their Senate colleague late in the primary campaign, while most U.S. House members went for Huckabee or Mitt Romney. Chambliss is on the ballot in November, too, and it will benefit him to have a strong presidential candidate above him, so Chambliss will be expected to work to bring conservatives back into the GOP fold.

How is a RINO/Amnesty backer supposed to rally Conservatives to anything? If Chambliss thinks voters will forget how he tried to betray them he had better think again. I'll only be voting for local candidates come November, the national GOP ticket can kiss me where the sun don't shine.

Waiting to see if McCain chooses a conservative V.P. that’s against amnesty. If he does, I will hold my nose and vote for him...if not then I will not vote for him.

In the end, however, "I don't think McCain will turn off the base," Beck said.

This guy's a real genius.

Those skeptical voters ultimately could determine McCain's fate. Do they stay home? Do they vote Democrat instead?

I just can't keep from giggling, every single time I see one of these "what, oh whatever shall those stubborn, wascally conservative voters DO, come November?" articles. Really and truly, I can't.

The pro-amnesty, anti-1st amendment, I-don't-care-who-or-what-he-is-just-so-long-as-he-has-an-"R"-after-his-name party RIMOs and bluestockings have spent the last month or two shrilling and spluttering at all the rest of us, non-stop, about how "insignificant" we conservatives are in the greater scheme of things, electorally-speaking; and about how they don't even really need our loathsome, worthless hinders anyway, gosh darn it, 'cause of all the zillions and zillions "moderates" and otherwise "unaccounted for"-type voters they robotically keep insisting are huddled out there, all of 'em just champing at the proverbial bit to cast their votes on behalf of some sour, perpetually dyspeptic old crank whose single greatest, lifelong dream is to transform the entire U.S. into a gigantic, coast-to-coast bedroom community on behalf of his beloved Mexican overlords.

Don't need us, kiddies? Fine, then. Lovely. Cool beans.

In that case, then: kindly stop mewling and sniveling over the prospect of us not voting for your annointed RINO sockpuppet of the season... okay?

Seriously. 'Cause... like... it just ends up making you look all desperate and needy, and stuff.

Just sayin', is all.

(Obvioualy, none of this was directed towards you, Oshkalaboomboom.) ;)

No.

Hell no.

May my M1911-A-1 break in half no.

May the sun rise in the West no.

Will conservatives back McCain?

Just because the guy might suck slightly less than whichever dilrod the 'rats anoint is not sufficient to get this particular conservative to back him. He has already said often enough that he doesn't need people like me, and who am I to argue with such an eminent elder politician?

I've verbally scorched McCain dozens and dozens of times, right here on F.R.

I've called him a RINO and occasionally a poser.

I've even speculated that he'll play the spoiler if he doesn't get the nomination.

I voted for Mitt in the CA primary.

Now, I will vote for McCain this November.

But, I want some things first.

The GOP needs to adopt 100% Conservative planks in convention.

I mean Border Fence (physical) ASAP, illegal aliens sent back, no more anchor babies, (if illegal aliens vote, they go to JAIL), unapologetic support for the troops and troop surge, I could go on.

And, if McCain either agrees to aggressive and unwaivering support and pursuit of the conservative planks or true conservatives will see to it that he looses all 50 states.

Also, we want a vigorous, well-spoken, CONSERVATIVE VEEP. (Michael Steele comes to mind.)

Anything less, and (in appropriate Spanish) is ADIOS to the GOP.

There are a lot of things about McCain that piss me off.

That said, I've decided to look at this upcoming election as one where there will be two Democrats running, RINO McCain for the GOP, versus one of two extreme left wingnuts, Hussein or Hillary. To me, the single biggest issue we are facing now is the war on terror, and there is no comparison there between McCain and those other two buffoons. The choice for me is clear - hold my nose, vote for McCain, and hope that the GOP has some up and coming conservatives in the farm leagues (Bobby Jindal, anyone?).

I think it will be a blowout.

Either McCain wins big or Obama does.

But whoever it is, it won’t be close.

Still, some say conservatives' ire toward McCain has been exaggerated and that he has been unfairly painted as a moderate or liberal by the media or by those who simply don't like him.

Yep, some say that. They're liars.

The GOP has turned its back on Conservatism - I will not be voting for McCain. I may help Obama get elected... short term pain, long term gain for Conservatism in America.

Well....I got mightily pissed at Chambliss and Isaakson when they first tried to foist McCain’s amnesty bill off on the citizens of Georgia (they changed their ‘tune’ pretty damn quick when they got bombarded, however). I’d since been thinking about whether I was ever gonna vote for either of them again....I guess this clinches it for me with respect to these two.
