<SNIP>
Everybody today is raving about a piece in the Washington Post by Angelina Jolie in which she just got back from Iraq. She says, "We have finally reached a point where humanitarian assistance, from us and others, can have an impact." Her point is to stay, help the Iraqis, especially those who are out of the country, want to come back home, the time is right now, and that the surge is working. Now, if you read the piece by Angelina Jolie today in the Washington Post, you will conclude that she is deeper and in ways more specific than Obama about this if you read the whole article. She makes more sense than Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama or anybody on the Democrat side about this. It's stunning. I've had some people, "Rush, you realize, she didn't write it." I don't know that she didn't write it. I'm not going to assume she didn't write it. (interruption) That's another thing, that's a good point, too, it's pretty brave of her to do this, given Hollywood and so forth. But she's big enough to withstand it, and it sort of makes me appreciate this Brad Pitt guy a little more. He's gone after substance here, is all I'm saying. This really is a good piece.
"My visit left me even more deeply convinced that we not only have a moral obligation." We discussed this yesterday, moral obligations versus rights in health care. "We not only have a moral obligation to help displaced Iraqi families, but also a serious, long-term, national security interest in ending this crisis. ... What we cannot afford, in my view, is to squander the progress that has been made." She makes more sense than any Democrat that's out there running for office. She makes more sense than any Democrat anywhere in this country talking about Iraq, other than Lieberman.

Jolie walks the walk. I think she is really interested in those she helps and it’s not about her getting admiration and publicity. Also she’s not preachy, hateful, angry or snobby. (And she is an excellent actress, multi-talented, very hardworking and serious about her craft.) I never liked her much when she was married to Billy Bob Thornton. I could not figure out why she was always hanging off of him. All that clinging seemed beneath her or any woman’s dignity. But she has really changed a lot.

Angelina Jolie Makes More Sense than the Democrats on Iraq Must be the start of a horror flick, because that is REALLY scary.

She has grown up and become a wonderful mother. I know many FReepers don’t like ‘Hollywood’ type threads (and she usually gets blasted for her international adoptions here). But I trully admire that she was given those kids a wonderful chance at the best life. The few pictures that are out there w/her, Brad and the kids show a happy loving family.

I have no doubt that she wrote the op-ed. She’s scary-smart, and not your typical Hollywood airbags-for-brains.

Bonus points for Seinfeld reference! You're quick.

She pushed for establishment of a National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children and lobbied for the Alien Child Protection Act, a bill that would provide lawyers refugee minors who come to the U.S. The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act of 2007 or DREAM Act of 2007. But these benefit one type of immigrant children - illegal ones. We don’t need to provide “centers” and ACLU-style lawyers for illegal immigrants. We need to deport them. Sympathy, like that of Jolie, for under-age illegal aliens is exactly what their parents are counting on when they take advantage of America and smuggle themselves in. In many cases, these are children of terror suspects, and they grow up with the same anti-American ideologies.
Jolie made a check-up on a Homeland Security facilities for asylum seekers in Phoenix. Her UN commission opposes detention of these illegal aliens (perhaps we should just let them escape into thin air). Good ole Angelina was there to monitor conditions and make sure we Americans are acting humanely. No surprise that she told Marie Claire her favorite website belongs to the far-left, anti-American Human Rights Watch. - Debbie Schlussel

She may have stolen “poor little Jen’s man” but that left “poor little Jen” for us.
One can always wish.
I think Jennifer Anniston is beautiful and Angelina Jolie is getting more beautiful every day (and puts her life on the line out in the boondocks).
Good luck to both of them.

Well, I’m waiting for LiLo or Paris to steal Angelina’s man, to leave both Angelina and Jen for us, as you put it.
