TYLER, Texas -- Republican presidential hopeful John McCain mocked Democrat Barack Obama on Wednesday for saying he would take action as president "if al-Qaida is forming a base in Iraq."
"When you examine that statement, it's pretty remarkable," McCain told a crowd in Tyler, Texas.
"I have some news. Al-Qaida is in Iraq. It's called `al-Qaida in Iraq,'" McCain said, drawing laughter at Obama's expense.
Obama quickly answered back, telling a rally at Ohio State University in Columbus, "I do know that al-Qaida is in Iraq."
"So I have some news for John McCain," he added, saying there was no al-Qaida presence in Iraq until President Bush invaded the country.
Noting that McCain likes to tell audiences that he'd follow Osama bin Laden to the "gates of hell" to catch him, Obama taunted: "All he (McCain) has done is to follow George Bush into a misguided war in Iraq."
McCain said he had not watched the Democratic presidential debate on Tuesday night but was told of Obama's response when asked if as president he would reserve the right to send U.S. troops back into Iraq to quell an insurrection or civil war.
Obama did not say whether he'd send troops but responded: "As commander in chief, I will always reserve the right to make sure that we are looking out for American interests. And if al-Qaida is forming a base in Iraq, then we will have to act in a way that secures the American homeland and our interests abroad."

Do you think the CIA, FBI or other intelligence agencies have throughly investigated Obama and his associates? I would not feel comfortable sharing all our intelligence with this global freak!
There needs to be a montage of preachers and the message that Barack induces to his audience. I think you will see a similarity...then pass the bucket.

A “conservative” who thinks Obamalama is the best of the 3? If Barry O goes any further left he’ll have come full circle around to the right and then maybe you have a case. Otherwise you need to reorient your head, or find a new forum. None of the 3 are ideal, but there are degrees of danger, and Obama is tops in that department.
Your post has given me hope...however, if Clinton Inc. had a bomb to drop, why wait until the convention? Rush reported today that he has already heard a rumor from two good sources that poll numbers are so bad—Mrs. Clinton may drop out on Friday!

WHOA!!!! Who knows? She will probably give the info to McCain, as she is close to him, or Clinton wil give it to the Bushes.

No one. That’s kinda my point. In other words, if it’s OK to use the picture to call into question the patriotism of a candidate, is it also OK to use it to call into question the patriotism of the President of the United States?
If she does drop out (which I somehow cannot believe), she will take Barry down with her—Scorpios never forget and always get even. I never thought I’d see the day when I’d be rooting for her to reach into her old bag of tricks. ;)
Obama won’t have the cooperation of congressional Republicans for his evil agenda (like McCain would), and he doesn’t have the entrenched power and connections of the Clintons. A backlash to his liberalism (a la 1994) would be a possibility in the 2010 elections, whereas a McCain presidency would drive Congress even more firmly into Democratic hands. Taking all things into account, I think a weak Obama would probably do less damage to the nation in 4 years than McCain would do in 8. I wouldn’t vote for him in a trillion years, but I won’t vote for any other enemy of the Constitution, either.
But with McCain, it will be in slow motion.
Obama is going to get us all killed if elected.

Sometimes I wonder if Osama is dead, and we can’t tell the American people, because they would say, “OK, it’s over.”
Even if he was right that “there was no al-Qaida presence in Iraq until President Bush invaded the country”, which he isn’t, what difference would it make?
They are there now, so saying you’d send troops BACK if you found out they WERE there is stupid when you know they ARE there and you are taking the troops OUT.
It’s like the democrats think if they win the election, Iraq will have never happened.
Can you name one issue on which McCain is unacceptable and Obama is acceptable?
If not, then it would seem that if McCain was a democrat, you’d find him the most acceptable of the democrats.
Which would then mean you find him unacceptable simply because he is willing to associate with your party.
Which seems like an odd reason to reject someone.
I believe that the picture is an accurate depiction of who Obama actually is. And that’s a person who feels no obligation to salute and outwardly respect our flag and quite possibly by extention, holds the same disinclination or even deep-seated revulsion toward our nation, our sovereignty etc.
So yes, it’s entirely fair or OK or whatever word you prefer, to illustrate who a candidate is during election season. And ultimately Obama cannot hide who he is. That anti-flag behavior is not typical of most Americans who continue to hold their hand over their heart during the Pledge. He and the picture are fair game. I’m not however, holding my breath that McCain or the RNC will actually make use of it, I’m just saying they could. And should.
As for after a POTUS win, if you are talking about that picture being posted on a forum such as this, I have no problem with it. It’s still a free country after all, at least so far.
I wouldn’t care for an official RNC ad using it after the fact if he won though. Because I’m first and foremost an American, I wouldn’t care for that behavior being used by us against a sitting President. It’s way too much like the way the democraps have treated Bush.
Besides, the issue would be moot at that point and it’s a point I certainly hope we don’t reach.
Try it. Join with us, and attack Obama for his absurd positions and his lack of experience and the harm he would do to our country.
But not beause he is black, or because his middle name is Hussein, and not by making funny nicknames of making fun of his personal life or his wife.
It’s a much more serious level of political discourse, and it is the road back to ascendency for the conservative movement. We want to be the grown-ups, and that means we stop with the childish name-calling and meaningless gotcha-games.
