The epitome of no-knock occurred in Waco, Texas a few years back. The police burned up a few people and shot a few more as I recall.
Well, not precisely. I followed Waco closely and have done a lot of research on that incident myself. Koresch and many of his followers KNEW the cops were there to investigate them. There was also a lot of evidence they were breaking the law on several levels.
So those folks were fully aware of investigations.

Koresch and many of his followers KNEW the cops were there to investigate them. Even if Koresh knew that the robbers breaking into his home were employed by the U.S. government, he had every right to shoot them since they were not there to legitimately serve a warrant. As it is, I'm not convinced that the dead BATF agents weren't killed by other agents. Indeed, the Congressional hearing testimony made clear that the BATF set up a circular firing squad.
