Barack Obama’s campaign is expressing outrage at a new photo attributed to Clinton campaign sources that depicts the Democratic presidential candidate dressed in Somali garb.
The picture, which appeared at the top of Monday’s Drudge Report, says Clinton staffers circulated the 2006 photo over the weekend. It shows the Illinois senator fitted as a Somali elder, during his visit to northeastern Kenya that was part of a five-country tour of Africa.
“On the very day that Senator Clinton is giving a speech about restoring respect for America in the world, her campaign has engaged in the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering we’ve seen from either party in this election,” Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said.
“This is part of a disturbing pattern that led her county chairs to resign in Iowa, her campaign chairman to resign in New Hampshire, and it’s exactly the kind of divisive politics that turns away Americans of all parties and diminishes respect for America in the world,” Plouffe continued.
According to Drudge, the unnamed Clinton campaign staffer said: “Wouldn’t we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC,” short-hand for the candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Shown the photo by reporters, Bill Clinton’s press secretary said the candidate’s spouse will not have any reaction.

Yes, he was the subject when someone took the photo. What’s there to be upset about? Oh, I suppose it’s “taken out of context”. Well, dude, you were still in the photo. If the photo is real, tough. If it’s not, well then that’s another matter.

It may provide the backlash that finishes her off. A lot of blacks look at that dress as their heritage and people here and in her campaign are laughing at their heritage. Show me one republican politician that will say something offensive about the manner of dress.

I am a little torn between two sides on this issue. On the one hand it does seem like a little more race baiting on Clinton’s part, but on the other it says something about the kind of CIC Obama would be. An American President should try to reflect American values and culture, but at the same time he/she shouldn’t be inflaming racial hatred in order to win an election.
This event just shows how important it is to elect neither of these two.
Obama should have just said, “Yeah that’s me in the picture, what’s the big deal?”

The RATS have to find a new line. That 'everyone hates us' canard is absurd. They look ridiculous mouthing that as our problems with "old Europe" are gone with their old leaders. France; likes us. Germany; likes us. Great Britain; still likes us.
